Guest guest
Dear Members, Have anyone of you heard of the great saint " Thirumoolar " ?. If so, you must be acquainted with the saying " Anbe Sivam " . Some weeks back, i was going through this text which highlighted the life of Thirumoolar. It is said that, he professed the philosophy of " Anbe Sivam " , which means Siva is Love. So much so, he relinquished his own body to save some cows near Thiruvavududhrai whose master was lying dead! At thiruvavududhurai, he sat under the bodhi tree, and in the state of nirvana, uttered 3000 hymns which are today famous as " Thirumantiram " , which is notably the core of saiva siddhantha. Is'nt it a great boon to have had such a great yogi in the South? Infact Thirumoolar is also said to have devised medicines for diseases which have not yet been found out!, or for chronic ailments like cancer, etc. sadly none of the secrets which remain today. What a shame, such high philosophy is widely misused nowadays (ref. Film: anbe sivam). || Thiruchitrambalam ||

Hariharan > Thirumoolar was one of the 18 siddhars - no doubt about that, but Thirumantiram is much more than words spelled out of a yogi. It's a complex, perhaps complete doctrine by itself. It is divided into Tantras each concerning a science. The whole doctrine revolves around the bond/ relation between pati - pasu - paasam. There is not much reference to Lord Murugan, but the centre of this doctrine is Siva (who is often refered to as Nandi). It spells out various sciences like Yoga (of different types), Siddha, Nadi etc. Ofcourse it lists out various mode of worship of different kinds, but leaves the details to the Agamas. Thirumoolar came to the south to see Agasthyar. In the process he entered a moolan's body (said earlier), and these 3000 verses were uttered when he was in nirvana under the bodhi tree. Some religious people believe these are the words of Lord Siva.
