Guest guest
Dear All, Can anybody advise me about the Kavadi vow to Pazani Murugan? I mean, I made a vow for my son to carry Kavadi. He is 11 now. Here are some of my questions: 1. Is there any particular numbering in age that matters? (Someone commented that it should be carried when the child is 7, 9 or 11 years old.) 2. Can he carry the kavadi in Pazani any time of the year? 3. If I have to bring him to Pazani on my own (if my relatives are not accompanying me), are the arrangements in Pazani reliable? (I have never travelled alone to Pazani, which was decades ago). I'm planning a trip, and it will be around 2nd or 3rd week of December 2004. Any helpful inputs will be highly appreciated. Guest guest
hi! patricia, Murugan Saranam!!! Your son can carry the kavadi. There is no restrictions for carrying kavadi. Here are the answer for your questions 1. Is there any particular numbering in age thatmatters? (Someone commented that it should be carriedwhen the child is 7, 9 or 11 years old.) Ans : No age restrictions for carrying kavadi. He himself a child. So he loves children carrying kavadi. 2. Can he carry the kavadi in Pazani any time of theyear? Ans : Yes, he can carry the kavadi any time throughout the year, as per the convenience. But it is very auspicious to carry either in the Month of Thai (Jan - Feb) or Panguni (Mar - Apr). 3. If I have to bring him to Pazani on my own (if my relatives are not accompanying me), are the arrangements in Pazani reliable? (I have never travelled alone to Pazani, which was decades ago). Yes, I can help you out. You can contact me when u come to india. So that i can take you to Pazhani. I'll try to get you the details and help you. (Helping Murugan devotees is the big service according to me) I'm planning a trip, and it will be around 2nd or 3rdweek of December 2004. Any helpful inputs will behighly appreciated. Instead you can make it in the 2nd or 3rd week of Jan which will be very close to the "Thai Poosam". Guest guest
MURUGA SARANAM Hi Patricia.. Already the questions were well answered by Ramesh. I would just add that we also take kavadi to rach during thaipoosam. But offering the Sarkarai in Kavadi for Abhishekam is done on the next day after Pusam. And we keep 45 days of fasting (I guess 45 days form 3 mandalams). I hear that new people get in touch with 'agents' who can arrange faster darshan, prasadams etc.. But they just are with you until you buy abhishekam items from the shop from where he gets commission and eludes after that. It is easy to get on by yourself with all the formalities. So no need to depend on paid service providers. It is very very nice to hear that Ramesh can help you. When we take Kavadi or pathayathirai pilgrimage, the Murugan devotees do service to all the devotees which at that time is most valuable and indispensable for His devotees. And they do that with total dedication and devotion. While we are resting on our way some other devotees use to mix vibhoothi in water and put thiruneetru kaappu for the feet of the devotees. As the word kappu means protection the worn out feet get rejuvenated after that. The services devotees receive through out the pilgrimage are many many. May He shower His mercy on one and all. Guest guest
Thank you, Ramesh, for your bighearted offer of assistance. I'm overwhelmed by this kindness. What appeared to me to be a very mountainous project, now looks so gentle. I have to do a lot of planning because my son's school term starts in January. They are very strict about it. Also, I have to organize my work and family commitments before I make the trip. God has blessed me with good relatives. I have now discovered He has also blessed me with the reassurance and kindness of His devotees. Truly I'm grateful. Thanks again. I will certainly keep in mind your kind offer. Guest guest
fasting for 45 days is one mandalam. Palani Thai poosa Padayathirai gives immense pleasure to every one who undertakes that yathira. There will be walking far a weeks time. from my native place(Devakottai in Chettinad, South India). The whole week you do Tabas by walking. It is recharging of life batteries as we perform the yathira every year. Streams of yathiries will walk down the way to Pal;ani. Yathira strats on Ashtami day from our place to reach palani on the day prior to Poosam. The nagarathar Kavadi (Nattukottai chettiar) will be reaching the abode of Lord Thandayuthapni on the Magam day. i.e., the third day of Thai poosam. There are lot of things about the yathira and Kavadi. I have seen eloborate mails about the Padayathira and Thaipoosa Kavadi to Palani. I pray to Lord Thandayuthapani to bless his devotees Palani Andava saranam saranam anbudan somle "R. Guest guest
Dear Mr. Meyappan, Thanks for the information on the article no. - it would have saved many minutes of searching and sorting through nearly 400 messages! BTW - what's your view on archiving it in pDF form ? Regarding the Subramanya Sapthakam, I see you have posted it in DOC form - and this additionally requires a font to be installed. I've done away with the need to install word and the font by converting it to PDF format. Shall I mail it to you, you can then download it and upload it back. the reason is that this was your addition and let this also be uploaded by you. || Thiruchitrambalam ||
Guest guest
MURUGA SARANAM Dear Mr. Sivaramakrishnan.. I will soon convert it into PDF format and upload it. I have acrobat distiller with me. In a few days time I will do that. If you have already converted that to PDF, please do not hesitate to delete the current one and upload the PDF version. In fact I too took it from a printed book only. I think I can keep future uploadings using PDF format. That will make it easy for all. MURUGA SARANAM With Best Regards Meyyappan S dhandapani , " R.
