Guest guest
Regarding the book reveiws, thank you for posting the same. In this hi-tech, fast moving world, it's really good to know such books are still alive (and atleast some information about them) - It's sad to know that all of the 21 volumes of Sankara's works are out-of-print and out-of-press (ref. to those made by Vani-Vilas). Other not-so-authoritative editions are ofcourse in print. The once jubilant VaniVilas Press, Srirangam is now defunct. It was one of the premier institutions of the yester years known of it's impecable quality (even if you read the book 100 times, you would NEVER find a SINGLE mistake!). Such was it's reputation, for over 70 golden years. But when I went to the press in 1998-99, I was horrified to see, nothing but a huge pile of decaying books, rusted machines! Ofcourse there are press' like Vanathi, LIFCO etc. but it's near impossible that such rare classical works will be on press again. I have begun a project to collecting information about all books on Lord Muruga, Murugan Bhakti and related subjects in a database. The aim will be to incorporate almost all books, with related ISBN, publisher, price etc. which will be useful to people who want to purchase the book, or want information regarding it. This sounds pretty enormous, but i suppose once it reaches a good size, it will be extremely useful for both readers aswell as publishers. Readers can find the information/book they want, and publishers can use this database to reach the readers. Although such a huge project calls for advanced object-oriented, relational database systems, in my opinion such implementation can wait until a sizeable amount of books' collection is available (to test and quantify/qualify a system). In the meanwhile, a rudimentary database has been setup at the database post - dhandapani/database?method=reportRows & tbl=2 Please feel free to add books you know of (you need not own them), if you know books related to the subject, please log in (whenever you find time) and just upload an entry in the database. Regarding the book reviews, I will try to add them, in the meanwhile, if you get time please add them. Thank you. If you have RealPlayer, you can watch three clips from Kandan Karunai from http://sirkali.org/gaanam.html. Regarding the songs - Sound Tracks of Kandan Karunai can be listened to online at http://www.musicindiaonline.com/l/26/s/movie_name.4726/ But the database does not seem to have the song you requested. Probably you best shot is an HMV Audio Casstte (?). ===== || Thiruchitrambalam || ______________________ India Matrimony: Find your life partner online Go to: http://.shaadi.com/india-matrimony
