Guest guest
Dear Murugan Devotees, Om Saravanabhavaaya Namaha! I would like to bring your attention to something that our dear Patrick Harrigan brought to my attention. It is about the aftermath of Tsunami and the relief efforts in Sri Lanka. Reading the account Patrick gave me I got the impression that conditions are pathetic for families especially in the east coast of Sri Lanka. Here is an excerpt from his mail: -------------------------------- The relief work for east coast tsunami victims has moved from the task of providing food and clothing to one of providing temporary and permanent housing, and restoring familie's livehihoods. We are doing both of these, and we are also working closely with children's homes that have had to absorb more children since the tsunami struck. Really what we would like more than financial support is for Tamil speaking devotees to come and spend time here as relief volunteers, or even if they do not speak Tamil. But for those who cannot come at least now, yes, we do very much need to deliver support to families and communities for the long run. .... .... .... In our operation, there is not one single volunteer on salary. Everyone, from Coordinator down to the humblest 'thondar' is serving out of love. But that does not spare us from recurring expenses and the expenses assocated with putting families back to work, etc. .... .... .... To contribute to Murugan Bhakti / Living Heritage tsunami relief work by credit card, simply to to: http://padayatra.org and click on the PayPal icon that takes you to the secure PayPal.com site. To contribute directly to our account in Sri Lanka here are the particulars: BANK TO BANK TRANSFER: Account name: The Living Heritage Trust Account number : 1107344301 Bank name: Commercial Bank of Ceylon Bank Routing No: 026002561 Swift Code: CCEYLKLX Address of Bank: Galle Road, Colombo-3, Sri Lanka .... .... .... I think many devotees may have forgotten that we have left off all other work in order to serve the thousands of devotees on the east coast who even now are helpless to resume their lives without some outside help. -------------------------------- If you could help in any way, please do so.
