This licentious life- I need to dissolve, This sorrow and strife- I want to resolve! So, then I ask -with bated breath: " Can I postpone - my meet with Death? This mask of tranquility… I must remove; To gain humility, I have to prove! To escape sloth in this woe of void, Anger and aggression, I must avoid! In duties will I be remiss?? If this suffering, I do miss? Do away with day and night, Sever senses that excite! Learn to meditate and contemplate, So that to YOU, I may relate! To understand you more and more, Perceive your wisdom at its core; Reach that post immaculate, clear Through your kind, guiding spear! To disentangle my convoluted mind From all the knots that do bind, To put an end to frivolous speech, Letting actions fade – and to teach That in hunger, pain and deluge, You alone are the ultimate refuge! You who aided the dEvAs, On the battle in slaying AsurAs, You who helped Indira regain His kingdom to rule and reign. Yes, Krounchagiri you tore apart… Winning damsel Devayaanai's heart! I envy your command, eloquence and articulacy in the language of English. Or I should probably restate it. If it was only english, eloquence and articulacy, I wouldnt have. But the effortless ways you compose the rhythmic verses, esp. on Him, has greatly impressed me. Certainly the world is not in dearth of such talented people - All Glories to Him, but how many find bliss in using it to praise Him. More than the worthy poetical language and those immaculate rhythmic verses, what impressed me the most was the one quoted above " My Sweet Saravana Bhava GuhanE " . Probably its your inner feeling of experiencing Him makes you write such nice verses. Without really experiencing it feeling it one cannot pen down such verses. Yes He is sweet, He is sweet. It is very very nice to see the fellowship of Thiruppugazh anbargal all around the world. If He wishes I will also move to a place where I can join one. When you were telling about the Arunagirinathar Day, I was just reminded of what I read about Kripananda Variyar Swamigal. I just have a request to the moderator and the group. Variyar Swamigal was born on 25th of August 1906 and next year august 25th will be his 100th birth anniversary. It would be a great boon to Murugan Devotees if his 100th birthday is celebrated all over the world. Celebrations could be marked with distributions of Variyar swamigals writings and oral recordings of His discourses and songs, upanyas on Murgan Bhakthi, thiruppugazh recitations and explanations, upanyas on Kantha Puranam, mass bhajans, etc etc.. He is one of the greaest orators the world has ever produced who can quote at will with perfect grammer from various epics of Tamil and Sanskrit and humorously relate anecdotes and stories to make Higher Truths and high principles more practicable. His discourses and writings (urai) on many hymns on Lord Murugan like Thiruppugazh, Kanthar Alangaram etc.. were and are serving as guiding lights for thousands. There are millions of Murugan Devotees in and outside Tamilnadu but most of them go to Him seeking miracles only and this celebrations also could be used to promote the importance of the Higher Truths spelt out clearly in Thiruppugazh, Kanthat Anubhuthi etc.. which will help in the spiritual evolution of every individual which is supposed to be the ultimate aim of every born soul. How this could be promoted as a national or world wide event. Our group can do a brain storming on this and I request all to participate and arrive at some ideas, if not concrete actions. Probably our moderator can write, on behalf of all the members of our group, to the Chief Minister of Tamil nadu or the concerned minister to officially declare a month for this celebrations. If my memory is correct the central govt had done such things to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda a great person of un matchable qualities and knowledge. As the government has all the means and logistics they can easily organise and promote with the help of learned scholars and it would be a reall success. The values of Murugan Bhakthi will reach more and more through this. Our group members also can organise to collect and print litretures on Variyar Swamigal and Murugan Bhakthi which could be freely distributed to devotees during pilgrimages or at suitable occassions - the expenses for which could be shared by willing members. I am aware that there are more learned and devoted members (than me) in this group who can properly guide in this matter. I request moderator and all members to come up with their ideas and opinions if we can give a better shape, methodology and purpose for this. Ms. Raji: I am able to feel your 'love' for Him. I have not read "andhakan varun", thanks a lot for your translation. I have felt this, "That in hunger, pain and deluge, You alone are the ultimate refuge!" so many times.
