Guest guest
A modified translation in verse form of Appadi Ezhum song # 1205 in Tpugazh madhaNi, pg 1030...Transliteration given below with meaning.. thanks to Sri GOpala Sundaram.. Consort of Saraswathi, ruler of heaven He who created the worlds seven; Seated majestically on a lotus flower Pervading the Universe with his power. By that Brahma who does decide, In many a shape & form did I reside, Entering and exiting life's gate… According to my predetermined fate. O' how much longer must I endure.. Please cure and lure me to a state pure! This endless cycle of birth and death? Will it soon be blessed with immortal breath? You who exude fragrance of camphor paste, You who belong to that damsel chaste... Seated by the tall fields of corn; Won't your shoulders rest hearts forlorn? Rescuer of Indira and his holy land, With wish granting Karpaga trees grand; O' Mountain Lord! How you astound! Pervading Vedas & celestials profound! Amidst fiery seas and fervent prayer, Even, nature did you not quite spare; Why the mountains quake and shake in fear, As you slew Sooran with your spear. How can one be so cruel and kind? A Paradox and Puzzle to the mind! Innocent garlands of kadappa you wear, Yet a winsome war god of heroic dare! Yes, evil you destroy like idols of clay, My vikrama vElap perumaaLE!
