Thala Varalaaru: There are two historical events associated with this Murugan. Since Bramha could not give the meaning for Pranava, Muruga kept him in jail(Paadala Sirai) and he took the form with 4 faces and having 12 hands having the name "Sadurmugar" and he undertook the work of padaittal. When Viswamithra Maharisdhi was meditating(thavam) on Parasakthi to attain the title of "Brahma Rishi" Muruga came from the Bindi(Pottu or Kumkumam) in the face of Parasakthi.
