Manavala Nallur is located 2kms from Virudachalam ,40kms from Kadalur and 45kms from Sadambaram Natarajar temple. In short, it is located in Virudachalam - Salem road. One can find a lot of town buses from Virudachanlam.

Thala Puranam:

 

Sundara Moorthy Nayanar is one of the Devara Moovar .Once he came to Thiru Kazhukundram(also called Pazha Malai) near Vridachalam which is an ancient mountain(Kundru). The Sivan here (Virudambigai Sameda Sri Pazhamalai Nathar) is believed to be some what old and hence the name Virudachalam(Viruddam - Old). Since the Sivan and Amman are old Sundara Moorthy Nayanar skipped the temple with out singing any song on Pazhamalai Nayanar. So pazhamalai Nayanar got upset and he complained this to his son Muruga. So Muruga took the form of a Vedan and he took all the gold that Sundara Moorthy Nayanar had and he asked him to get it from Pazha malai. Now Sundara Moorthy Nayanar understood his mistake and he prayed Pazhamalai nathar to forgive him and he got all his gold. Pazhamalai is now called Manavala Nallur and even now people give their complaints to Kolanjiappar(Manavala Nallur Murugan) and it is believed that the solutions to their problems are got with in 90 days.

The four sides of Virudachalam are protected by four Muneeswaras who are believed to be the incarnations of Muruga. One among the Muneeswarars is called Vedappar.

The Way of Giving Prartanas and Complaints:

 

The complaint shouold be written in a white sheet atarting "Manavala Nallur Kolanjiappar Avargalukku..." and then our native that from where we are coming and our Prarthana should be proceeded. Then we can give the sheet to Archagar in Kolanjiappar Sannadi. He will keep it in near the Kaladi of Muruga and give Viboothi after doing Archana. Then we have to tie the Prarthana slip in the Vel which is in Muniappar Sannidi. Since the murugan here is believed as Police, we have to give him fees(Padi Panam) as 10 paise per km ie., 10 paise for each km from the place where we are coming.

After our Prarthanas get fulfilled have to go there and say that my request is fulfilled and at this time we can give some money upto our capacity which is called "Rajinama Kattanam".

Prasada In Kolanjiappar Temple:

 

Here the parsada is Neam Oil and is called as "Veppennai Marundu". The devotees have to get Neam Oil to Kolanji Appar Sannidi The Archagar will do oArchana for that oil keeping it near the Thiruvadi of Muruga and he will give it mixing some Vibuthi in it. Then every day one has to apply the oil on the affected area after taking bath with purity in mind and body. And it is believed that this prasada has the capacity to cure many skin diseases and the wounds and clots which have been in the body for a long time. The clot due to Jaundice(Kamalai Katti) for bulls is also believed to be cured by this medicine.

Festivals:

 

Here Panguni Uthiranm is celebrated for 10 days.

Vasantha Urchavam during Vaikasi Month is also celebrated for 10 days. During this time Laksharchana will be held for Muruga and Muruga and Vinayagar will come around the town in chariot(Satta Ther).

During Chitra Pournami 1008 Paal Kuda Urvalam will be held.

This is a popular place for doing marriages.
