MURUGA SARANAM

Recently I saw the movie Agathiyar in Tamil and wanted to share a scene from the movie.

In that Naratha and Agasthya have a conversation. Naratha boasts (though he cant be ignorant), that He is the best devotee of Lord who keeps reciting " Narayana, Narayana " (Oh! How sweet that sounds no?) and no body does it somany number of times everyday. Then Sage Agasthya tells him to go to the earth and he can see people more devoted to Narayana than him. He takes the challenge and goes and observes a farmer. In the morning after he (the farmer) wakes up, says Narayana Hari Hari Govinda !!! and then gets on to business. Naratha is very happy to see someone reciting the name of Narayana. During the day he goes through hell of funny quarrels and problems between his wife and other relatives and brings peace between them. By then it is night and again says Narayana, Hari Hari, Govinda !!! Naratha wonders this man said only twice. So he rememberd Narayana only twice in the day. So I am better than him. He says the same to Agasthya. Then Sage Agasthya gives him a cup full of oil and asks him to take around the world and bring. Naratha finds it very difficult to carry it without spilling any drop of oil but does it successfully. On the way Lord Narayana tries to stop him and speak to him but Naratha with all his concentration on the cup fails to notice him and says not to disturb him. When he submits the oil cup to Agasthya with a smile of success, Agasthya reminds Naratha that he has not uttered the name of Narayana even once that day. Let alone reciting. When Narayana Himself came across he even failed to notice. Then he was also reminded how the man facing so many trials every day still managed to recite His name at the begining and end of every day. Though both the sages Naratha and Agasthya are well learned, this is a lesson God gives us that even in difficulties we should not forget Him and we should not be pleased with ourselves that we are the greater devotees of God. Someone who is not having any problems or worries will be able to do pujas to Him every day and night. He does not have any worries to encounter. He has enough money, good family, good, children, good job etc.. He is no doubt a great person who remembers Him day and night. But still greater is the one who is full of worries and full of troubles, who does not find the 24 hours enough to struggle through all the difficulties but still remember Him with Love and Passion even for a minute while one is totally busy and concentrated in confronting every obstacle and worry.

May All Glories be to that Master of This Universe Who Loves us day and night.

WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR IN WHICH ONLY THE TRUTH MAY SUBSIST AND FALSE MAY DISAPPEAR. May everyone of you and your friends and relatives be blessed by our Love, Lord Muruga on this New Year.

With Best RegardsMeyyappan S
