Guest guest
MURUGA SARANAM Dear All.. We know that reciting various names of Lord (if possible passionately) removes the sins, cultures us, gives us peace, reduces anger and induces love. The other day I was listening to a discourse of Kripananda Variyar on the Glories of Lord Murugan. When he says about various names of Lord Muruga, he says that reciting the name " Muruga " once is equal to reciting His name one crore (10 million) times. He also quotes Arunagirinathar in Kanthar Alangaram as he says Vizhikku Thunai Thirumenmalar Paathangal Meymai Kundra Mozhikku Thunai MURUGA enum Namangal Munbu Seytha Pazhikku Thunai Avan Panniru Tholum Bayantha Thani Vazhikku Thunai Vadivelum Sengodan Mayuramumey. which means.. It is His Lotus Feet that guides our eyes and it is His Name " MURUGA " that guides our falseless speech, it is His twelve shoulders that takes care of our past sins and it is His Beautiful Lance and Peacock that guards us in the fearful lonely journey. In the explanation he says that Muruga is singular, so it should actually be MURUGA enum Naamam. But He says in plural as Namangal because reciting it once is equal to recting His various names one crore times. The Grace of Lord is unparalleled and infinite. Keep reciting Muruga, Muruga, Muruga, Muruga and I am sure you can feel Him nearer to you. Usually we get to remember Him more only when we have problems. Later when we are impressed with His leelas and we tend to remember Him even while not having difficulties. In all these stages it is His Forms and Names and Leelas that connect us to Him. I think slowly one moves to a stage where His names alone are enough to bring that level of connection with the Lord. I have read great people saying that later on you need not even recite His names, but just remembering Him takes them towards bliss. People like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa attain Samadhi just by remembering the The Universal Mother. Such great people transcend all and dont need Forms or Even names of Lord to connect with Him. The most Beautiful is the " Six Faces " The best of The Sea Shores is " Tiruchendur " The Best of The Hills is " Palani " The Best of the Medicines (physical as well as spiritual) is " Vibhuthi " The Best of The Names is " MURUGA " May All Glories Be to Lord Murga MURUGA SARANAM WitH Best RegardsMeyyappan S
Guest guest
Om Muruga! It is said that each " yuga " has a preferred or prescribed method for attaining God-realization (yuga means era/epoch). As all of us know we are now in Kali Yuga. The prescribed method for God-realization in Kali Yuga is said to be chanting. Compare the ease of chanting with that of the method for Treta Yuga which is yagna (religious sacrifice). So even though living in Kali Yuga is difficult and challenging the path to devotion is easy. It is as if God is easier to reach in Kali Yuga. Not only is chanting easy, it is something we can do anytime - while walking to the super market or waiting in line at the post office or on the way to work or whenever. Chanting is an easy habit to acquire and the more we chant the stronger that habit gets. I just wanted to add a few related comments to Meyyappan's valuable message on chanting. Om Muruga!
