IMPORTANT NOTICE

======================================================================

Dear Members,

On the eve of " Shravana Somavara " of this Year, which is on 31st

of this month (July 2006), we have decided to enrich our group

postings by posting various spiritual and philosophical stories as

narrated by none other than the great Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi Himself.

For many, it may be a new and perhaps startling fact that, apart

from the great spiritual attainments and rigorous austerities, Sri

Ramana Maharishi was a very well known " Story Teller " ! Ramana

Maharishi was not just a story teller; through his enchanting and mind

captivating stories, He expounded great philosophical truths in

simple, clear and easy to understand language, that could be absorbed

by common man.

Many stories, were later compiled by Mrs. Joan Greenblatt, one of

the foreign devotees of Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi, which was later

published by Ramanasramam.

Stories that will be posted on this group will be from this book,

which has been published and released by Ramanasramam. In doing so, we

earnestly believe that we are NOT BREAKING ANY COPYRIGHT LAWS (see

note 1).

The stories narrated by Ramana Maharishi, compiled into the book

are divided into Four parts based on their source (or occurrence),

which are :-

1.Various Short Stories and Tales

2.Brahma Vishnu and Shiva

3.Periya Puranam

4.Yoga Vasishtham

While Various Short Stories are tales from myriad sources,

sometimes including folklore, stories in the " Brahma Vishnu Shiva " ,

are, as suggestive, primarily concerning the trinity from various

" Sanskrit Puranas " . The Periya Puranam, as many might have already

guessed, contains select stories about the Nayanmars from the

Periyapuranam. The Yogavasishtham, is a spiritual treatise narrating

the Upadesha of Sage Vasishtha to Rama many years after his return to

Ayodhya. It is one of the many classical works on Advaita and was

recommended by Ramana Maharishi to his devotees. This part contains

select stories from this work.

Mr. Meyyappan, one of the very first members of this group will

be doing this pious deed, by posting one story every week. The Story

will be posted on Sunday, so that all will have enough free time and

go through the story without hurry.

It is earnestly hoped that members of this group will be

enriched and will be benefited out this series of postings of

" Spiritual Stories as Narrated by Ramana Maharishi " which will

commence from 31st July 2006, on the auspicious occassion of Shravana

Somavara.

We earnestly pray to seek His Grace.
