Thiru –ezhu-kUttrikkai ¾¢Õ ±Ø ÜüȢâ쨸 Look at the numbers here. Just some numbers? Do you know this is one type of tamil classic poem? 1 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 1 1 The following picture gives some idea 1 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 1 1 Thiru

–ezhu-kUttrikkai is a Thamizh literary type in which the poem is presented in the pictorial format of above fashion. Numbers from one to seven are arranged inside squares in a increasing and decreasing order. The numerical and descriptive details of the concept are skillfully interwoven with each other and maneuvered to be placed inside these squares resulting into a cohesive verse. It is known other than Arunagirnathar, ThirugnAna sambanthar, Thirumangai AzhwAr and Nakkerar have sung in this fashion, one of the most difficult modes of tamil poem. In modern times Vannaparam Dhanadapani Swamigal and Thirukkukai Perumal also have composed songs in this fashion. Look at the figure once again 1 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5

4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 4 3 2 1 1 2 3 2 1 1 2 1 1 The phrases and numbers so arranged gives the appearance of a triangle or a south Indian temple car. There is one square in the first row which lies at the apex of the triangle. This square is designated as number one. The next lower row contains 3 squares designated, from left to right, 1,2 and 1 respectively; the third row contains 5 squares designated 1,2,3,2 and 1 respectively; the fourth row contains 7 squares designated from left to right 1,2,3,4,3,2,and 1; the fifth row contains 9 squares designated 1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2, and 1; the sixth row contains 11 squares designated 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 respectively; the seventh row, which lies at the base of the triangle, contains 13 squares designated 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 respectively. The numbers also mathematically square of 1, 11, 111 etc . More over the numbers in each row add up to 1,4,9,16,25,36,49 respectively which is square of 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7 12 1 112 121 1112 12321 11112 1234321 111112 123454321 1111112 12345654321 11111112 1234567654321 Top and bottom, Left and right with respect to a centre point is a mirror image as shown below The verse Thiru ezu kURRirukkai of Arunagirinathar is set up in nerisai AciriappA (§¿Ã¢¨º ஆசிரியப்பா) which the sequence of the model syllables nEr and nirai , occur by themselves or in a serial combination of two. The proficiency of poets in the field of artistic literature (citftirkf kvi) is judged by the quality of the graphic presentation of the literary material. The numbers are represented in the figure so arranges both phonetically (ºô¾õ) and by meaning Let us

view the arunakirinathar’s song. It is already sent to you another member and you might have viewed it. It would be better if it is explained in Tamil To be continued.Beauty is His footprint showing us where He has passed - Aurobindo

MURUGA SARANAM

Dear Sir..

Thank you so much for so meticulously explaining this. Nothing more I can say. I feel indebted to you. It was also good interpretation from Mr. Sivaramakrishnan that the seven lines could mean the seven uper worlds. For some reason one picture which was a part of the message (representing the mirror effect) did not show up. But your explanation was very clear.

It has aroused my curiosity to note that you will be continuing on it. Eagerly waiting for the same.

Thank youonce again.

May All Glories be to The Lord of Thiru Yeraham (Swami Malai)

MURUGA SARANAM

With Best Regards
