Guest guest
Dear Friends, This week's Podcast is about "Sri Vallakkottai Murugan Thirukovil,Vallakkottai". This temple is situated in "Vallakkottai" which is well connected to all important places from the Chennai city through STC (state) buses. The ancient divine poet "Arunagirinathar" has praised Lord Murugan of this temple through his various poems in "Thirupughaz" and praised the name of this place as "Kodai Nagar" which is now known as "Vallakkottai". We can visual Lord Subramaniyaswamy in a standing posture majestically with 7 feet with Goddess Valli and Deivannai. No one can find anywhere the same, except in this place in Tamil Nadu. I would like you to hear this episode and give your valuable comments, also request you to send me your friends, colleagues or family member's email who will be interested in hearing this podcast so that I can also send email to them simultaneously regarding my episodes every week. Guest guest
MURUGA SARANAM Thank you Mr. Natraj, for that post on Vallakottai Murugan Thirukkovil. Few months back I had the golden chance of visiting this great temple of Lord Murugan standing at 7 feet with Valli and Deivayanai, situated near Sriperumpudur near Chennai. There is also a theertham in frot of the temple and Annadanam takes place in abundance and people keep on inviting all the devotees for the after noon annadanam. Ananda Cassettes have released a cassette of lecture by Variyar swamigal on Vallakkottai. Through that I came to know that a king by name Bageerathan had built that temple and Arunagirinathar has reached that temple on instruction by Lord Muruga Himself. Arunagirinathar has taken bath in this theertham before singing seven great thiruppugazhs on this Great Merciful seven feet Lord Muruga. The (hi)story is that Bageeratha was a great king who had everything (all wealth and power) and unfortunately also had Anavam (ego) His victories were going to his head. The great sage Narada wanted to teach him a lesson. Variyar swamigal says that Narada is greatest among the rishis. There is no " Utthama Munivar " equivalent to Narada who is found besides our beloved Lord Muruga in his Adorable sitting posture at Tiruparankundram, the other side being Deiyvayanai. Narada Munivar instructs the invincible Rakshas Goban (if I am right) to fight Bageeratha and in the war Bageeratha loses after which he comes to his senses. Then as per instructions of Sage Narada he goes and does penance after which he builds the temple of Lord Muruga at Vallakottai. If you want to know more you can listen to the interesting, entertaining and enlightening lecture by Variyar Swamigal with his invaluable recitals of thiruppugazhs and other verses in between. If you are a Chennaiite you will find the Variyar cassettes in any outlet of Saravana Bhavan hotel. If you carefully see the story, even punishment is a blessing in disguise. If Bageeratha was not punished he wouldnt have got rid of his Anavam and hence would have never reached higher position which is only in the spiritual upliftment. We should think of the fact that even difficulties come to us to help us know something. We try to find the lesson from every difficulty or sorrows or failures we face and we will realise that success is very near. Be it good or bad He always tries to help us and not distance us. Besides this information on Lord Murugan's one of the greatest sthalams (ofcourse every shrine of Him is greatest place for us. Isn't its? ), the real estate is booming in and around Vallakkottai due to the presence of Hyundai and Nokia very near to it and many industries are developing in that area. Prices of land near Vallakottai are skyrocketing like never before. May All Glries be to the Kodaiambathi Murugan ! Kodai Nagar Muruganukku Arohara !!! Muruga Saranam With Best Regards Meyyappan S On 5/22/07, nataraj prakash <natar_77 wrote: Dear Friends, This week's Podcast is about " Sri Vallakkottai Murugan Thirukovil,Vallakkottai " .
