Hello All,

Last week while on a road trip, I saw many people travelling

on foot to Palani from different parts of Tamil Nadu.

I was told such pilgrimages coincide with the New Year's day

usually.

Can someone post more information on the background of Palani

pilgrimages?

Regards

Ramasamy

Muruga SaranamPeople walk to reach Palani on Thaipusam. Usually many reach a bit earlier, may be to avoid rush. Thaipusam is the Pusam star on Thai month of Tamil Calendar. It can fall on any day between 15 Jan and 14 Feb approximately. This year, it is approximately on 21st Jan.
