from Mahalakshmi in this sthalam and it filled the Bitcha vessel ,he is

called Bitchadan.Hence the temple is also called Bitchandar Kovil.Lord

Vishnu came in form of kathaba tree ,hence the name kathambanur,which

became karambanur as time wen on. Thirumangaialwar and Andal worshipped

he lord here as "Uthaman" hence the name "uthamar kovil" as well."Ongi

ulagalandha uthaman perpaadi" --- a famous verse from Andal
