I have added some info about her from Ananda Vikatan and from the internet below: ======================================== Kodumudi Balambal Sundarambal (11.10.1908 to 24 -9 -1980) -Childhood in Kodumudi in Tamilnadu-Married to famous actor SGKittappa in Mayavaram in 1927- Within 6 six years of marriage, SG Kittappa died in 1933. -Famous songs sung by her are Gnana pazhathai and Thanithirunthu vaazhum - Name of her house is Sri Murugan Nilayam- Did not remarry till death. Notwithstanding, even while acting in moviesshe accepted roles of single woman or widow only. The movies also were mostly devotional movies.-Right from 1933 till her end, on every Amavasya day (new moon), she makes sure to bathe in Kaveri. - She was a drama artiste and the most famous play was "Valli Thirumanam" where SG Kittappa played as Murugan.- She acted in 11 movies totally-She herself says the movie Avvayyar by Gemini brought the name, fame and wealth.- Her songs - Senthoor Velaandi and Mothilaal Nehru were famous in pre-independence era.- Well known movies are Avvayyar (1953) , Poompuhaar (1964) (acts as saint kavunthi adigal)Thiruvilayaadal (acts as avvayyar) (1965) , Kanthan Karunai (acts as avvayyar), Karaikaalammayyar (acts as saint karaikaal ammiyaar) -She was the first cine artiste in Tamil to command a salary of 100,000 Rupeesper movie in the era before 1950. (Nandanaar movie in 1940) -In the world of music, no one has filled the vacuum left by her loss. Pazhamneeyappa, Ondranavan, Dhaga Dhaga ena aadava, Arithu Arithu, etc.. are some of her most inspiring songs.
