This is similar to Purattaasi Sani where importance is given to every Saturday which falls in the month of Purattaasi. Soma Vaaram is where importance is given to every Monday which falls in the month of Kaarthigai. There would be minimum 4 and maximum 5 Mondays which falls under the month of Kaarthigai. Soma Vaaram is auspicious to Lord Murugar & Lord Sivan. The prayers before noon is observed for Lord Murugar and evening prayers is observed for Lord Sivan. Homam, Abishegam and Sanggabishegam is followed by Shodasha Ubachara Poojai (16 lights) are offered to the deity who would be in Special Alanggaram. On the final week, devotees could view the Shanmuga Archanai which is specially performed in Lord Murugar temples. Benefits include the curing of sickness, solving debt problems, gives happiness, child, attain mukthi, removes our bad karmas, removes our ignorance and grants us prosperity.
