"How to Be What You Are"The Ultimate Self Realization Course, Lesson B4 by His Grace Sriman Sankarshan Das Adhikari Under the all-merciful guidance of His Divine GraceSri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

The first three lessons of the "B" series are as follows:1. Self-Realization is the Ultimate Success2. Enlightenment Secrets Revealed3. What are you?Now that you know that your actual identity is "eternal servant of God" how do you reawaken this identity? Just as a person who is suffering from amnesia can be brought back to his original, forgotten identity by associating with those things that are related with his real identity, someone who has forgotten his eternal spiritual identity can become fully awakened by regularly associating with God. The Vedic wisdom describes God as Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The Vedas accept as bonafide any name for God given in

the various revealed scriptures of the world. Therefore devotees of Krishna also hold as sacred such names as Christ, Allah, Jehovah, and Buddha. At the same time, the Vedas describe the name "Krishna" as being the most complete nomenclature for the Supreme Absolute Truth and therefore the most effective name for self-realization in the current materialistic age of Kali.Krishna manifests Himself in many varieties of ways to facilitate the spiritual advancement of His devotees. He can even be experienced in the course of your ordinary daily affairs. In the

Bhagavad-gita He says, "I am the taste of the water." You taste water every day. So every time you drink some water you can think, "This is a very nice taste. It quenches my thirst. This wonderful refreshing taste is Krishna." When you see or hear something you can remember how Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita that is He is the light of the sun and the moon and that He is also the sound in ether. In this way it is very easy to become Krishna conscious. It simply requires practice. That's all.You can set aside some time in the morning and/or evening to

carefully study the teachings of Krishna, the Bhagavad-gita. The world's most popular and authoritative edition of the Bhagavad-gita is available at:http://www.ultimateselfrealization.com/storeYou can also spend time every day meditating on Lord Krishna's holy names:Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare HareHare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare HareIf you can fully absorb yourself on a regular daily basis in chanting these names with a spirit of love you will quickly advance on the path of spiritual perfection. The art of how to achieve perfection through meditating on the above mantra is described in detail at:http://www.ultimateselfrealization.com/articles.php?articleId=56You can engage yourself in karma yoga for rapid advancement towards the ultimate goal by offering the fruits of your work to the Lord. One very practical means of karma yoga is that you can purify your livelihood by setting aside some portion of your earnings for the service of Krishna as described at the following link:Fast Track to SamadhiAnd most importantly, you can place yourself under the merciful guidance of Lord Krishna's authorized representative, the bonafide spiritual master. By inquiring from and serving such a qualified spiritual master, you will quickly advance on the pathway to spiritual enlightenment. The spiritual master has no material agenda. He is simply engaged 24 hours in selflessly serving the suffering humanity by widely

distributing Krishna consciousness for the benefit of all. If we can receive the merciful blessings of such a spiritual master we will quickly become fully absorbed in Krishna consciousness and thus blissfully revive our dormant Krishna consciousness.Hare KrishnaSankarshan Das AdhikariBhaktivedanta Ashram, Austin, Texas, USAFebruary 2, 2004
