Liberation easy to achieve in Kaliyuga

Hare Krishna,

The method to realise God has become simpler down the ages. Penance, performance of sacrifices (Yagna) and austere worship were prescribed in the ages of Satya, Treta and Dwapara, and they were to be practised stringently. To suit the nature of this Kali yuga in which it is difficult to practise these methods, the Vishnu Purana recommends that the same end can be achieved by chanting the Divine names and His glory through hymns.

So there is no need to despair about the decadence seen in this age as the scriptures have reiterated that it is easier to realise Krishna in the Kali age. The hymns like ‘Vishnusahasranama’ are eminently suitable for this purpose as they have glorified His various forms, incarnations and images . They can be easily handled by one and all. The Bhagavata Purana has foreseen the birth of sincere devotees and saints in the Kaliyuga.

Lord Krishna has not been and will never be, unkind to anyone who has pinned his total faith in Him is indisputable. Why then we come across people steeped in religious practices, honest and pious, who undergo sufferings? They never swerve from the path of Righteousness but still they are being tested, at times very severely too. On the other hand, a man who defies the code of ethics and who does not uphold the rules of religion, is seen enjoying comforts and not caring for Krishna's superior power. How to get reconciled to these situations

engages the attention of many of us.

The valid explanation given by the scriptures rests on the theory of action and reaction. Any deed, good or bad, carried out by a human being will certainly have its repercussions. The man who is seen immersed in grief might have disobeyed the Law established by Krishna in his previous birth. The punishment to him has been decided and this can be altered by anyone, nor he can interfere with the Divine order. So too, the man in prosperity may be happy till the fruits of his past birth get exhausted. Then the theory will start operating.

To those who have now chosen to cling to Him, Krishna's role is to tune their thoughts to the waves of religion and see that they conduct themselves properly to be saved . He will make them choose only the correct path leading to His doorsteps. Others who lead happy-go- lucky lives, not obeying the charter of duties, will reap the consequences. Nothing can be unwise than to pour water on the fruits in trees to help them grow well. One has to enrich the roots.

We must notice the miserable existence of Krishna's parents (when He appeared in human form ) in the prison. Did not Sita, the Goddess Mahalakshmi, as a princess, undergo trials? Dhruva, a child who received Divine grace by his grim penance, praising Lord Vishnu for His mercy, has sung that the Lord resides in everyone's heart and having entered in his chambers too, had awakened his dormant speech. ``May I enjoy the intimate fellowship of exalted souls, constantly dusted to Vishnu so that I can cross the turbulent ocean of life? Such of those who get close fellowship with men of culture and devotion will not think of their mortal frame''. A sage who was with us just a few years ago, once advised devotees not to give up the simple rite to be performed thrice a day. Next year, on his trip, he was again told that people have not carried out his fiat. The sage replied that the fault did not be lie with anyone but only with himself because obviously his own devotional exercises were not enough to exercise his influence.
