Hare Krishna,

The chief cause for man's frustrations and miseries can be attributed to his ego and the false feeling of his autonomy. He imagines that he is powerful as to do anything he likes. Experience in life falsifies this hope and he then feels depressed. If he only realises that his independence, his knowledge, the power he may wield and the glory he enjoys, are due to the Lord Krishna's grace, he will surely hesitate to assert his preposterous autonomy. Remembering Krishna at all times is real affluence; forgetting Him is

poverty. Man's bondge, which is real, will be removed by the grace of Krishna, through the practice of intense, unremitting, exclusive and pure devotion. All scriptures therefore declare their substance as the ``call to meditate'' on the Lord.

Krishna's intention in providing us a body is to enable us to take measures which will ensure no rebirths. His powers are supreme, while ours are limited. Scriptures point out several dissimilarities and in several holy texts, one of His messengers, Sri Madhwacharya, has explained the differences between mortals and the Divine Master. Any attempt to compare themselves to Krishna, or worse still, to equate themselves with Him will make them remain amidst worldly activities forever, the Acharya has warned.

In a commentary to the Bhagavatam, he has pointed out that Krishna does not depend on anyone, nor is He cruel as some may infer from the punishment meted out to some. A few tried to challenge Him or defy His orders and to reform them, He had to adopt certain punitive measures. It was not enmity or partiality.

For instance, the Lord could have easily taken away the lives of Bali and Ravana. He punished them as they violated the moral code and allowed desire to conquer their normal behaviour. God patiently perseveres to inculcate divine knowledge in us so that we will ever remain meditating on Him. The Madhwacharya's works tell us about the twin doctrines of duty and devotion. He has brought down the kingdom of Krishna on earth.

Praising the manner in which Sri Madhwacharya gained victory over disputants, celestials showered bouquets of sweet-smelling flowers on him, witnessed by many around him. When the heap of flowers was removed, all those assembled found that he has disappeared. This glorious scene was enacted at Ananteswara Temple in Udupi in 1317 A.D. As a tribute to his rigorous and systematic, yet simple approach to Krishna, this day of his ``dematerialisation'' is being celebrated as ``Madhwa Navami''. The impact of his personality and glories is fresh in our hearts .

Please Chant:Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare HareHare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare HareAnd Be Happy.
