Devotee must enshrine Lord Krishna in the heart

Men in ancient days led a very contented and happy life because they adhered to Truth and Righteousness. But most people of today have no peace as their habits are not proper. They are unable to recognise their own capabilities. Unaware of their innate potential and forgetting their real nature, they have now become narrow-minded and are being gobbled by the demon of selfishness. Though endowed with a precious and rare life, soft-hearts, sweet minds and valuable time, they are not able to enjoy these possessions. They have forgotten ideals and hence are unable to appreciate the significance of the legacy they have inherited. When they are unable

to recognise their own value how can they ever know that of the Divinity? They forget that Krishna is dwelling in the hearts of men and do not recognise His Divine power which resides within them.

Human birth has not been gifted to men to merely chase worldly pleasures which cannot give true satisfaction. A mother (mentioned in a scriptural text) advised her children not to mistake physical objects for spiritual realities. Just as the dream state disappears when a person wakes up, delusion caused by attachment will get wiped out when wisdom dawns. When actions are performed by men properly, good results will flow and hence the basic need now is to avoid getting involved in worldly pursuits. Just as ornaments can be made only with gold, precious values like peace, truth and virtue can be developed only by enshrining Krishna within. Unfortunately men forget to realise the presence of the in-dwelling Krishna and go after pleasures which will provide temporary happiness.

``Hence first develop faith in God and enshrine God in your hearts,'' said Sri Sathya Sai Baba in a lecture. Since ancient times, India has been disseminating the knowledge about Divinity to the rest of the world. India's culture is great but few recognise this fact. India's scriptures set noble ideals for mankind. In the Mahabharata, the priority that the Pandavas gave was to Lord Krishna, to world next and finally to themselves. The reverse was the case in respect of the Kauravas as a result of which they lost themselves. When Krishna is in one's heart, no danger will touch anyone. The birthless, deathless Krishna is the eternal witness of the activities in the entire world. There is nothing in this world that cannot be achieved by genuine prayers as they alleviate all misery. Every person who is devoted to Krishna should sow the seed of devotion in those whose heart is occupied by hatred. If the life of everyone is suffused with this rare commodity (true devotion towards Krishna) there is bound to be peace and prosperity in the world .
