Guest guest
Hare Krishna, Human life is a valuable gift from Lord Krishna and it has also tremendous responsibilities. Hence all actions and thoughts have the worthiest aim of pleasing Lord Krishna, who in fulfilment of a sincere devotee's dedicated submission, showers His grace leading to beatific vision, namely, His direct experience in His unutterable holiness. There is thus an imperative need on the part of a devotee to meditate upon the various aspects of the Supreme personality of Godhead (Krishna). Lord Krishna's chief concern is to satisfy the aspirations of those who approach Him. Under such confidence- imposing circumstances, no devotee need despair of his existence in this material, strife-torn world. Sri Madhvacharya, in one of his soul-stirring hymns, has not only spelt out the goal of life but also shown the way to reach it, incorporating in its 12 beautiful compositions profound religious truths upheld by the Vedas. In the Madhva household, no offering to Krishna is complete without recitation of at least three chapters from this work, called ``Dwadasa Stotram''. One sloka states: ``With swords, in the form of minds, finely sharpened on whetstones (the scriptures) and purified and having quickly exterminated one's powerful foe, a devotee should meditate on Sri Hari, the annihilator of soul's nescience. In his commentary, Sri Madhva says he is only faithfully reflecting Krishna's views (as contained in these three sources) without distortion as he is only a messenger. As an example, he cites the five-fold differences in the universe among Krishna, soul and matter as revealed by Krishna in His incarnation as Narasimha. In his biography, it is noted that the Lord Krishna made ``Vayu'' (Devata of wind) take a physical form and appear as Sri Madhva. His advent was announced by a handicapped person ascending the flagstaff of the Udupi Temple. His works are based only on scriptural authority. Once in a lonely wood, his teacher's son was attacked by a severe spasmodic headache and Madhva blew a puff of air into his ear and easily effected a permanent cure of the ailment. In another verse in the devotional hymn, Dwadasa Stotram, the Acharya has made a very touching appeal to Lord Krishna , who is full of compassion and who is the bestower of boons on devotees, for making them worthy of knowing the supremacy of the Lord. This call implies that however much one may be learned in scriptures, their true import will dawn only when Krishna showers His benign grace on him.
