Hare Krishna ,

The impact of modern civilisation has resulted in the neglect of acquisition of spiritual knowledge which alone will make a man know about the differences in the nature of God and himself and how he is totally dependent on the former's grace. While in all spheres, there is rapid advancement and research is being carried out, the human being of modern days feels that religion and knowledge about God are irrelevant and impracticable. This unfortunate view is being propagated by some to the future generations. But when sorrow or some kind of tragedy strikes and he faces too many problems, an individual will surely turn towards Sri Krishna, the Supreme Godhead and seek His guidance to get over his difficulties. He will then surely know

the significance of religious knowledge and of the value of prayers.

A saint, who, for a period, was the head of the Vyasaraja Math, has pictured the real position of a person who is immersed in sorrow. Sri Krishna, out of His inherent mercy, shows him the way to wade through life's journey. This He does by making him acquire spiritual knowledge and seek His grace. In normal circumstances, when he enjoys material comforts, man forgets Krishna and presumes that the pleasures he enjoys are permanent. His indulgence in worldly pursuits results in his getting re-births and remaining

bewildered by the happenings. Through His messenger, Krishna educates him by pointing out the ephemerality of worldly joys and weans him away from the path he had chosen and guides him on to the goal of liberation.

Following the teachings of Sri Madhvacharya whose system of philosophy he propagated, the saint, Sri Ramachandra Theertha, who entered ``Brindavan'' in 1682 A.D. at a village near Vellore, taught his disciples to adopt gradual steps and impressing on them that no one should get confused that he and Sri Krishna are the same. There may be references in scriptures which seem to draw some similarity between Krishna and a human being but a discerning devotee should be cautious enough to abhor entertaining such a view and understand how the two differ totally. Lord Hari is the Supreme Reality and that groups of souls are servants of the Lord.

Pure devotion is the means of securing salvation when he will be liberated from the tantalising transmigration and enjoy inherent Bliss. The Lord who is to be known only through scriptures, is endowed with infinite auspicious attributes. In short, without Him, even a blade of grass cannot move.

Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad-Gita 9.18 :

'I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge, and the most dear friend. I am the creation and the annihilation the basis of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed.'

Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya !

Sri Krishna Dasa
