HARE KRISHNA.

PraNAms at The Lotus Feet of Devotees of Lord Sri Krishna.

Lord Krishna out of compassion has revealed The Most Valuable Secrets of Leading a Purposeful & Fruitful Life. He has provided all possible methods of practicing His Preachings at different stages of one's capabilities. But He always stresses that practicing Karma Yoga is essentially fundamental, as no one can be without any action even for a fraction of a moment.

One of the very down to earth Teachings which everyone can commence practicing, is contained in the 14th Chapter which deals with The Three Gunas viz Sattva,Rajas and Thamas, which determine the Quality of Life one leads.

The Lord affirms that we should realise that it is the composition of the three gunas that makes us think, speak and act differently at different times. Once we are able to ignore and be indifferent to the effects of the Gunas and remain firm in our attempt to maintain equanimity under all circumstances - treating sorrow & happiness, honour & dishonour , friend & foe, wealth & poverty alike - we can go beyond the effects of Gunas.

At this stage we can hope to serve the Lord with unshakeable Devotion. This state of mind will make us suitable for total surrender to The Lord, which is the ultimate Knowledge Preached by Lord Krishna.

Verse 26 of 14th Chapter sums up the above as follows:

mAm cha yoavybichARaeNa bhakthiyogaena saevathae

sa guNAn samatheethyaithAn brahma bhoothAya kalpathae.

Hare Krishna.
