Guest guest
Hare Krishna , "Why Suffer in Mediocrity? Life on the Cutting Edge is Ecstatic!" Who wants to live a dry, monotonous, drab existence? Not anyone that I know of. Why do people flock to movies? They are looking for the excitement, romance, and adventure that they do not experience in their daily grind. The good news is that they don’t have to merely experience adventure vicariously in the imaginary world of television, radio, cinema, novels, etc. They can tangibly taste a life of incredible happiness at every minute by reconnecting themselves with God, the source of all that exists. When we have our solid connection with the origin of all, we become fully connected with everything at every minute, and it is absolutely ecstatic.Because they don’t know life on the cutting edge of existence by plugging into the spiritual nature, they feel incomplete and dissatisfied. Therefore they seek superficial gratification to give them at least a temporary sense of enjoyment. What a waste! If they could only somehow come to platform of Krishna consciousness they would be living in the greatest adventure at every minute. What makes it sadder still is that their temporary enjoyment is not even real enjoyment. It is simply a shadow of enjoyment. If I give you the shadow of a piece of cake and tell you to eat, can you actually enjoy? No. It is not possible. This is our position when we try to enjoy with our material senses. No actual enjoyment exists here in this world of birth and death. At best we get shadow enjoyment, but because it is shadow enjoyment only we remain dissatisfied. The real happiness is somewhere else. It is found by connecting ourselves with our eternal spiritual nature. Some people object that this is escapism, as if escaping the sinking Titanic of this material existence is something bad. “Escapism” is word coined by those who are locked into the illusion of trying to enjoy this material existence at any cost. Those who are expert in the art of escaping the clutches of this material energy prefer the word “liberation.” The wonderful thing about Krishna consciousness is that it is not “pie in the sky when you die by and by.” It is here, and it is now. You can realize the unlimited bliss of Krishna consciousness immediately by understanding that you are not your material body and that you are the eternal servant of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. By surrender unto Lord Krishna, a person can easily and quickly taste the bliss of Krishna consciousness at every minute in all times, places, and circumstances. In the Bhagavad-gita Krishna says that Krishna consciousness is susukham, that it is simply recreation. This is so because it brings us back to who we really are, eternal spirit souls, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Instead of meditating upon and saving up for that dream vacation in the South Seas, an intelligent person enters into the eternal vacation of Krishna consciousness never to suffer in this material existence ever again.
