16 Services to Deity during 'Puja'

In vedic faith , 16 services are offered to the deity during the ‘Puja’ :

1. Aavaahanam Welcoming the deity

2. Aasanam Offering seat

3. Paadyam Washing the feet

4. Arghyam Washing the hands

5. Aachamaneeyam Offering water to drink

6. Madhuparkam Offering a mix of honey ,milk and curd

7. Snaanam Bathing

8. Vastram Offering clothes

9. Yagnopaveetam Offering sacred thread

10. Gandham Offering sandalwood paste

11. Pushpam Offering flowers

12. Dhoopam Offering perfumed incence

13. Deepam Offering a lighted lamp

14. Neivedyam Offering food

15. Karpooram Offering Karpooram (deepaaraadhana)

16. Pradakshinam,Namaskaram Circumambulation and salutation

 

In addition to the above, other upachaaraas (services) are :
