Hare Krishna,

Sri Mahalakshmi resides on the chest of Bhagavan Sri Krishna (Maha-Vishnu). She likes the devotees of the Bhagavan very much and showers them with prosperity without asking . Goddess Lakshmi is known to be not staying with an ordinary person for long . Not withstanding this , because of her liking for Her husband’s names Lakshmi stays where Krishna’s names are chanted. Krishna's devotees too adores Mahalakshmi wholeheartedly as the Mother Goddess. In fact, whenever a devotee chants Krishna's names concentrating on His each limb, he/she never forgets to worship Sri Mahalakshmi while reaching Bhagavan's chest.

I postrate unto the lotus feet of Sri Mahalakshmi !!!

LAXMI:Goddess of Prosperity & Well-being.

May mother Laxmi bring peace, happiness & economical protection to all.

Thanks for the artice Shri Krishnanujan.

I remember one more very interesting episode about mother Laxmi & it goes like this ....

Once travelling in the galaxial path, mother Laxmi happened to meet Shani deva.

Both being very top authorities of the universe, entered to into an argument as to who must leave the way for the another.

Ending into a no-acceptable solution, they reached out to Indra, Brihaspati & then to the most respected trinities.

But, the confused trinities were too not able to converge to a good decision.

Finally, Lord Vishnu suggested to reach none other than devarshi Narada, who alone could pacify the candidates.

Narada appeared there & then. Hearing to both sides, he requested Laxmi devi & Shani deva to walk together to & fro as many times as they could !.

In the course of their walk, Narada use to appreciate in a loud voice - "Very nice ! Very nice ! ....."

To this, the trinities with others run to Narada & ask who is supreme.

Narada smiled & then replied - "I have observed Laxmi devi & Shani deva very minutely. Their walk styles are highly attractive. It gives me equal comfort when I witness them here or anywhere. I rate them equal hence."

But this was certainly not an expected outcome for anybody round there.

The annoyed devas asked Narada to pacify them with a more intellectual reply.

Narada disclosed - "Though the walk styles are equally attractive, still, there is a difference !! "

And, what is that difference ?

"It is nice to see Laxmi walking towards me & Shani walking away from me."

"Therefore, the enjoyment is entirely time/requirement dependent ...."

"Time & time alone distinguishes the importance of Laxmi & Shani. They are equally respectful otherwise & else."

Pacified devas & trinities supported Naradas's brilliant view of tackling the problem in one voice.

On the other hand, Laxmi & Shani also blessed Narada & saluted each other also.

LAXMI:Goddess of Prosperity & Well-being.

The Goddess Sri, who is also commonly known as Laxmi is the consort of Lord Vishnu. She is associated with prosperity, well-being, royal power and illustriousness. Laxmi in the Hindu pantheon of Gods and Goddesses is personified as the goddess of fortune and also as the embodiment of loveliness, grace and charm. She is seated on a Lotus flower though sometimes she is also seen as standing on a lotus. She also appears with gold coins dropping from her palms. Her emergence in the world is connected with the famous episode in the Hindu Puranas called SAMUDRANMANTHAN (Churning of the Cosmic Ocean), when with great effort, the celestial beings churned the cosmic ocean to obtain certain boons that would help alleviate suffering in the world and protect the good from the evil Laxmi appeared as one of the devine treasures, along with the Parijata tree, Amrit, Soma and many more devine

items. She has appeared as the life partner in every incarnation of Vishnu. When Vishnu assumes his various avatars in order to uphold dharma, she too incarnates herself on earth as helpmate. When Vishnu appeared as Vamana She came to earth as Lotus (Padma), when He came as Parasuram, Laxmi followed Him as his wife Dhari. When Vishnu appeared as Rama, she came here as Sita and when Vishnu appeared as Krishna, she came in two forms: first as Radha and later as His wife Rukmini. In the devotional service of Bhagavan Shree Krishna !Jai Shree Krishna !

Dear Esteemed Vaishnavas,

Hare Krishna! Thank you for sharing the information about Goddess Lakshmi. It is so appropriate at this time when the Navaratri festivals are on and Lakshmi Devi is being honoured for 3 nights. One of the Lord's favourite names is Shrinivasa. "Shri" refers to Sri Lakshmi Devi and "vasa" indicates the resting place. The resting place of Lakshmi Devi is the chest of Lord Sri Krishna.

All glories to Sri Sri Lakshmi Narayana! Haribol! Chant and be Happy.

Your servant,
