Hare Krishna !, Yes it is a true thing but what I have read in magazines years back was that the late E.V.Ramaswamy Naicker (Periyar) worshipped Ganesa. Whether Sri Rama or Ganesa makes no difference. But he did worship and lot of people know that . His idea at that time was to turn the ire of the Tamilnadu people to go against the Brahminism and his Dravida Party (original

name) thrived on the platform of anti brahminism. This is not peculiar to EVR only. Even Annadurai during the close years when he was lying in death bed due to cancer,a man who was against Gods and brahmins used to take the prasadams from the various temples to ward off his illness though the same did not benefit him and he died.

Same is the case with the late MGR who followed in the footsteps of EVR and Annadurai during his last years became an ardent devotee of Mukambikai and even donated his gold sword which was given to him by his fans for a film at Madurai, when he was suffering from

renal failure. Karunanidhy is also of such type and a follower of superstition. I have read in a magazine that when he was 75 or so the astrologers predicted bad time for him and suggested if he marries a woman then the ill effects from the planets would be wiped out and he did the same not by marrying a new woman but by tying the knot to his first wife again in a

famous temple. So all these politicians preach no God when they come face to face with death the fear makes them to run after Him. Even the Communists are no exception and the chain is long. So the fear of death inculcates in them faith on God and till that time when they enjoy life in a cosy way they used to shout from roof top there is no God and years back the Tamilians, a major portion were attracted by this new

phenomenon. Periyar used to say as his slogan if you see a snake and brahmin kill the brahmin first . Such was their antipahy against brahmins though the trend has changed to a great extend now. So the fear of death is the greatest factor in their lives to turn towards God thereby bringing Glory to Iswara. Hare Krishna. Agraman ---------------------krishnadaya <krishnadaya wrote: Hare Krishna!Dear Sri.Gopalakrishnaji,I was shocked to read about the secret devotion of E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker. This ICON of Atheism and Anti-Brahamanism secretly worshipped Lord Rama at home and the pujas use to be done by a Brahmin Pujari !!!. My humble request to you is to give us more details

of this shocking truth in order to enable us to take to as many people as possible . In this way we can save so many people who are still misguided by this king of cheats.Your humble servant Krishnadaya --------------------- "K.V Gopalakrishna" <gopalakrishna.kv wrote: Radhe Krishna! You are referring to the "Samrambha Yoga" or "Mode of Confrontation" adopted by Hiranyaksha, Hiranyakasipu, Ravana, Kumbhakarna, Sisupala, Dantavaktra, etc. In Krishnavatara

itself, the cases of Putana, Sakatasura, Aghasura etc., point to this mode of focusing the mind on the Lord. All of them , it is said, received Salvation at the hands of God, as their degree of hatred was so high, that they were thinking of Hari *_all the time_*, considering him as enemy number one with the intention of killing him. The story of the three pairs, Hiranyaksha-Hiranyakasipu, Ravana-Kumbhakarna, and Sisupala-Dandavaktra were different, in the fact that they were originally the Jaya-vijaya pair who had already attained Saroopya with Lord Hari, and had incurred the curse of the Sanaka

brothers for ill-treating them. They regretted their action and prayed to the Lord that they should be given the advantage of remembering Him in whatever shape they were, and the Lord only suggested the mode of "Confrontation" as a quick mode of returning to Him. They, in their incarnations as the three pairs of Asuras, did not remember their earlier relation with Sri Hari and they only knew to hate Him tooth and nail. Their hatred was not half-hearted, but a total hatred, so that they would do anything to kill Sri Hari. Their feeling towards God cannot be termed "Virodha-bhakti",

but only as "Samrambha - Yoga". There was no element of Bhakti in their actions, and we cannot call it a form of Bhakti. Bhakti involves love and devotion, and cannot come out of hatred. We may say, "they focused their mind on the Lord all the time, and they could not think of anything else other than ways and means of killing Him." That is "Samrambha-yoga", which yields results in Salvation in the same way or even better than real "Bhakti-yoga". "Yena kenapi prakarena manah Krishne Prvesayet." It only finally boils down to the fact that one should focus one's mind on Him _*all the time*_ irrespective of the method employed. But in all cases, at the last moment, the time of their spirit departing the body, they realised their enemy as the Supreme One, which led to their emancipation, except in the case of Hiranyaksha, Hiranyakasipu, Ravana and Kumbhakarna who could not visualise the Lord as the Supreme Brahman, on account of the fact that they

were destined by process of the curse to have one more birth as Asura.Take the case of a 20th century God-hater, E.V. Ramaswamy Naicker, for instance. Although he was showing to the world of atheists that he hated God, in his heart of hearts, there was an element of secret devotion. It is said that he had a temple of Sri Rama in his house, and he was propitiating Lord Rama secretly, conducting regular poojas etc, employing a Brahmin Poojary. One cannot say he was adopting "Samrambha-yoga" as he had really God enshrined in his mind and was worshipping Him, although to the world, he was projecting himself as a God-hater, to win cheap popularity among atheists. This is the purest example of the preponderance of Tamo-guna in a person. These are some stray thoughts which occurred to my mind, while on the subject of what Shri Ganapathy Raman referred to as Virodha-Bhakti . Regards KVG
