Guest guest
The state of self-surrender to Lord Krishna has many symptoms, of which the most prominent symptom is humble acceptance of anything related to Krishna. For example, if a self-surrendered soul sees an animal in pain, he/she considers first that the Supreme Lord is seated in the Heart of all beings, and thus remembering Krishna, the person tries to help the animal in pain. This service may extend to any other being in pain. A Vaishnava's true quality is the ability to see the pain of others, and to feel it so closely that he/she does everything possible to help. This attitude of service to Krishna indirectly by serving the beings in pain, is a very good attitude, and is not necessarily limited to Vaishnavas, but is most often found in Vaishnavas. A vaishnava who doesn't feel the pain of another being is pretending to be a Vaishnava. The life of a true Vaishnava is very hard in the beginning. He/She has to put up with lots of materialistic people's idiosyncracies, often to the point of accepting pain upon himself/herself. By accepting pain for the sake of others, a Vaishnava elevates himself further in Bhakti. No pain no gain! Bhakta Prahlad Maharaj faced tortures and tests for his Bhakti, yet he did not develop hatred for his demoniac father, so eventually it was the Lord himself in the form of Narasimha Deva, who came to help Bhakta Prahlad. Vaishnavas like Bhakta Prahlad are not easy to find. Srila Prabhupada has himself suffered so much and that too at such an old age. He travelled with a suitcase of books across the oceans, and for two months he faced two heart attacks, without even having proper medical facilities and qualified heart doctors to attend to him. His is the life and sign of a true devotee. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. Speaking of demigods, there are Bhaktas of other powerful beings like demigods etc, but a Vaishnava is all encompassing in his mercy, and sees Krishna in all beings, and thus does not get entangled in illusory energy created by various demigods. Sometimes even demigods have had to learn lessons from pure Vaishnavas. Brahma, the creator, once had to surrender his ego at the Lotus Feet of Lord Siva, the Param Vaishnava, who tested Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu at Arunachala, by appearing in the form of a column of fire which had no end. This test was so severe, it proved beyond doubt that Lord Vishnu was most sincere, while Lord Brahma was still entangled in false imagination and speculation and ego, because he could not answer the question regarding theend of that column of fire, and assumed an answer by speculation. Thereafter, at the end of the test,Lord Siva resumed his normal form and said " Let there be as many temples of Lord Vishnu, as there are temples of Lord Siva, but let there be only one temple of Lord Brahma. This truth is verified even today. Thus a Param Vaishnava humbled the great demigod Lord brahma. If one has the fortune of seeing Lord Siva ( who has been fully authorised by Lord Krishna to impart Bhakti as well as Shakthi), one must ask him for the boon of Bhakti to Lord Krishna. This pleases Lord Siva the most. When I once personally went around Arunachala as a 21 yr old youngster, I was tempted a lot to ask for mystical powers, but I asked for Bhakti only. Doubtlessly, this was granted, for since then I have never regretted asking for Bhakti. One must not ask for material gains, mystical powers etc, as these divert one away from truth, from Krishna, from Bhakti. So where there is Lord Krishna, there will be Lord Siva also, this cannot be changed by anyone. Thus, some spiritual aspirants who surrender to Lord Siva automatically get the chance to surrender to Lord Krishna, by the grace of Lord Siva. And furthermore, Lord Siva is an expansion of Sankarsana, the Eternal Servant of Lord Vishnu, Sesha Naga, the thousand headed serpent, who in the form of Lord Balarama is always associating with Lord Krishna, and in the form of Prabhu Nityananda, he is always associating with Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Conclusion:-Thus simply surrender to Lord Krishna and chant Harinaam!
