Ramayana Discourse Series at The Hindu Temple of Atlanta

Every Sunday Starting Dec 10, 2006

From 10:40am till 12:00 noon

 

I am honored and extremely pleased to announce a series of lectures on our famous epic – Ramayana, presented by Sri Anbil Ramaswamy and sponsored by the Temple Executive Committee.

 

About the Presenter:

Sri Anbil Ramaswamy is a renowned Vedic scholar, who has written several books on Vaishnava philosophy and Hinduism - the most popular of them being "Hinduism Rediscovered". He founded the Swami Desika Darsana Satsangam (SDDS) and its on-line journal "Sri Ranga Sri", (SRS) which has a worldwide membership of over 5000 devotees. He has in depth knowledge of the Vedas, Vedanta, and DivyaPrbandham - both at the philosophical and spiritual levels. His lectures and discourses provide guidance and direction to devotees for understanding and following these sacred texts and our epics such as Ramayana and Bhaagavatam.

Schedule for the sessions:

The Ramayana discourses will consist of a set of 8 sessions of duration 1.5 hours each. Each session will be conducted during the Balavihar time from 10.40am - 12 noon. This time will be strictly followed, due to the Balavihar schedule. Start date is Dec 10, 2006 and finish is Feb 11, 2007. There will be a break of 2 weeks (Dec 24 and Dec 31 '06) during the year end holidays.

Dec 10, 2006 - Introduction to Ramayana

Dec 17, 2006 - Bala Kandam: from Rama’s birth to his marriage

Dec 24 and Dec 31 - (No sessions)

Jan 7, 2007 - Ayodhya Kandam: Till Rama’s exile from Ayodhya

Jan 14, 2007 - Aranya Kandam: The kidnapping of Sita

Jan 21, 2007 - Kishkinda Kandam: The meeting with Vanaras and the search for Sita

Jan 28, 2007 - Sundara Kandam: Hanuman’s sea long leap and antics in Lanka

Feb 4, 2007 - Yuddha Kandam: The war and the end

Feb 11, 2007 - Discourse wrap up, Q & A

Attendance and Logistics:

All parents of Balavihar students will be encouraged to attend the sessions immediately following the Balavihar aarti. The discourses will be held in the Banquet hall.

 

Anyone interested is welcome to attend the sessions and benefit from this wonderful opportunity.

 

Bhaagavatas staying in and around Atlanta area or passing through the same during the sessions days are also cordially invited to attend the discourses.

 

Arrangements are being made to avail of the "Free Conference call" facility to enable those unable to attend in person to listen to the discourses over Telephone in the comfort of their homes.

 

A further communication detailing the Connecting Code and Pass code will be posted, if and when finalized.
