Guest guest
THE SPEAKING TREE: The Land of Krishna Has So Much to Offer http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/OPINION/Editorial/THE_SPEAKING_TREE_The_Land_of_Krishna_Has_So_Much_to_Offer/articleshow/1435104.cms In our quest for materialistic goals or spiritualistic loftiness we forget that life needs certain basic qualities to make the world a better place to live and evolve. For example, take the case of marriages the world over. It is not very astonishing to find that as the divorce rate goes on increasing more and more people — especially in the West — prefer staying alone or without the rigid framework of marriage. Social norms are taking new contours. In France, a small but growing number of couples are taking advantage of a new law recognising civil partnerships, which provides for legal recognition of a couple but stops short of the entanglements of a marriage. Each human being has the right to be happy. Love between a man and a woman is indeed one of the means to find this way, but increasingly, this choice seems difficult. A high court judge would prefer to call love as a subject matter belonging purely to the taste and liking of an individual person. However, to place Love under the restricted domain of individuals would be a folly for Love is universal and so Love cannot be categorised or subjected to physical beings. Love is a subject without end. Nothing could be easier and all the same more difficult than to love someone. Misconceptions about love are one and many. However, love is very simple. To find love it is useless to run everywhere and after everyone. To put it simply, every individual is a bundle of love. Everything depends on you. However, people are not able to comprehend the basics about love. In France, for example, after much consideration and with all the panoply of the cabinets of psychotherapy and personal development, one still wonders: "But is that what love is about? "Everywhere one ends up finding a world of violence and indifference. It is confusing for the intellectual and the average person is just clueless. One does not know and ends up running after small transitory satisfactions. What a waste, because the pleasure passes before the smile. Finally, one discovers that love under the umbrella of marriage is the most difficult way to purify a heart. As society is geared by technological advancements taking us to new shores in amusement, entertainment and communication, the principle tenets of love and relationship is left behind. Love cannot be confined to individuals. Love is basically an abstract feeling that cannot be contained behind barriers. It can be related to human evolution for certain persons are more inclined towards love and are able to share their feelings on a wider canvas. To love someone veritably it has to be unconditional. For any expectations on the part of a person is bound to raise certain conflicts in the relationship. To love unconditionally is not easy but it is not that difficult either. As genetic research keeps unfolding it will be clear that various categories of love can be traced to some neuronal activity or genes that one inherits. However, one can consciously try to evolve and make the quality of neuronal connections better. Many people regard Krishna as the lover who went after Gopis. Actually, Krishna was able to overcome all his desires (vasanas). Thus his love towards the Gopis was unconditional and pure. That was the reason the Gopis went after him madly even forgetting social norms and their households. The world needs a better understanding of love and that is the only way one can withstand the dynamics of today' fast-paced world. Indeed, India as the Land of Krishna has a lot to offer to the world.
