Guest guest
Firstly if you see many people following a " Guru " it does not mean much except that many of these people are expecting some revelations from the man they are following. How is it that you can tell a person is in touch with Krishna Consciousness or not? Here are some symptoms:- 1.You will feel peace and satisfaction. 2.You will not be expected to open your wallet and deposit some cash. 3.You will not be chastised or reprimanded at the onset of meeting him. 4.You will even see humility and a smile if he is really enlightened. 5.Choosing a Guru is your right, and the Lord helps you choose the best. 6.The will of the Lord will guide you to him. 7.All your doubts wil disappear when you find him. 8.whatever questions remain in your mind will be answered soon enough. 9.You will be given a fresh direction in your search for the truth. 10.You may or may not find him surrounded by many followers. In my personal experience, I met a saint who has a total of just 16 disciples, and he has stopped taking more disciples. The orders for him are to keep just 16 well trained disciples under him, and train them well.If I go to see him, he is usually alone, and always in the highest state of Krishna Consciousness.Exalted saints do not have the desire to live on materially though the Lord may order them to continue, and this person is 91 yrs old and smilingly lives on as if nothing has happened. Whenever he talks to me (rarely) he just asks if I am enjoying my existence,or is the burden of material life biting me too much, and if I am able to harness my senses and withdraw my mind within, focus on Krishna inside the heart or not. Here is where I get lost for words.Suddenly in his presence my weaknesses are exposed and he smiles and says time will heal everything, just chant.he says he will be watching me, so I must keep my Japa going. Such a peaceful presence is hard to find today. My Guru says " I am out of this Chela-Chapati " Business. He means he is not inclined to have more number of disciples. he is a Jeevan Mukta.
