Guest guest
Dear all, Radhe Krishna! This story, apart from the humour part of it, is told to illustrate that God does not come in forms that we imagine Him to be in, to help us in times of need, but He can come in any form to help. It is said that Krishna does not come with a stick in hand to direct us in the correct path as He did as a cowherd in the Krishna-avatar, but directs us in the right direction by giving us intelligence and sending the right thoughts. Hence our prayers should be for more and more devotion to Him, which alone can make us recipients of His divine grace, and show us the right path. The realisation of the presence of God and His hand in everything is equally important. The person in the said story, in spite of having great belief in Him, could not identify the help he got, as part of the scheme which the Lord had for him. We should learn to understand that every event in our life, good and bad, should be regarded as something ordained by Him, and train our minds to take life with equanimity. We should, at the same time, use the God-given intelligence with a spirit of discrimination to accept what is good and reject what is bad . Bhagavatam talks about 24 Gurus picked up from nature, which can teach us this power of discrimination. After that, it dwells upon the human body itself as the main Guru. In short, there is something to be learnt from every creation of the Lord, certain things to be accepted, and certain things to be rejected. Regards K.V. Gopalakrishna.
