PRESCRIBE ME ONE OF THESE FOR CHANT PLZ.....

hi AM GANESH. PLZ CLARIFY ME ON THE FOLLOWING QUESTION. 1 . SHOULD VISHNU SAHASRANAMAM BE CHANTED ALWAYS COMPLETELY FROM "SUKLAM BARATHARAM" TILL "NARAYANAYETHI SAMARPAYAMI" ? 2 . IS IT ENOUGH TO CHANT THE FOLLOWING ALONE? ""SUKLAM " ,"tHYANA SLOKAS","COMBINATION OF NAMES", CUTTING DOWN THE 'BALASRUTHI' AS THE LORD'S NAMES' POWER NEED NOT BE EXPLAINED AGAIN ? 3. IS IT OK TO CHANT THE COMBINATION OF NAMES ALONE? i.e. from "vishvam vishnur " till "sarva prahanaayutha " ? which of the above three options is apt or preferable ? plz reply with reason.... plzregards,Ganesh kumar

Shree Krishna Sharanam!

 

Your question is very technically related to Vishnu Sahasranaamam. My

suggestion would be that chant the whole Sahasranaamam. At least,

that is what I find my father doing.

 

And in Vishnu Sahasranaamam there is a verse:

 

{ Shree Raama Raama Raameti Rame Raame Manorame

Sahasra Naama Tattulyam Raama Naama Varaanane

 

I guess you know that the above means that " saying three times Raama

is equal to saying the whole Vishnu Sahasranaamam. " }

 

And then there is one more shloka in our Vedic scriptures [brahmanda

Purana] which says that:

 

{ Sahasranaamnaam Punyaanaam Trir Avrttasya Yat Phalam

Ekavrtta Tu Krishnasya Naamaikam Tat Prayacchati

 

" Saying the Vishnu Sahasranaamam three times is equal to chanting one

name of Krishna. " }

 

So, therefore in addition to chanting Vishnu Sahasranaamam please do

chant the Hare Krishna Mahaa-manta, if you are not chanting it

already:

 

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare

Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.
