Guest guest
Hare Krishna Prabhus and Matajis! I have a question: Would I be able to take monastic vows as Traditional Krishna Devotee, and remain in my local area? I am deeply interested in being a Traditional Krishna Conscious monk. Perhaps, I can be accepted by from this group as a disciple and a monastic. Let me know, because I really want to live out my life under monastic vows, and eventually live out my Traditional Krishna Conscious Spirituality in my local area through my monastic vows. Please offer insight on this matter and please direct me to a spiritual master, whom I can take my vows. I am unable to live in an ashram or travel abroad or travel out of my area, due to limitation with finances and my work, though. Thank you and Hare Krishna, Prabhus and Matajis! Krishnmurti-Dasa (Roger Perry) e-mail address: yochanan1983 -A 24 year old Traditional Krishna Devotee- PS -I use the spiritual name " Krishnamurti " in unofficial matters and dealing with informal relations with people. Thank you and please help me.
Guest guest
Dear Roger,Hare Krishna. You can begin the process by first get copies of Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, published by the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (www.krishna.com). Read Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam daily. Then you can begin corresponding with devotees of Krishna who lives near you. You can locate a Hare Krishna temple in your city or a city near you and become a regular attendee of the temple programs. That is basically the devotional life, which begins by associating with the devotees of Krishna. To be a devotee of the Lord, one needs not be a monk, though being a monk helps. There are countless devotees of Krishna who were all householders, that is people who hold job and respectable positions in societies, but are still topmost devotees of the Lord. A devotee of Krishna is the one who has dedicated everything to the Lord. Such a devotee can be in any ashram. In the Mahabharat, the Pandavas were the greatest warriors of their time, but the same time, were the greatest devotees of their time. Lord Krishna was always by their side. You have to question your motivation in wanting to take a monastic vows. As I mentioned above, taken a monastic vow is not a requirement for becoming a devotee of Krishna. I will be willing to share more with you.thanks,Isvara dasa.yochanan1983 <yochanan1983 Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2007 5:50:33 AM Questions about Monastic Vows Hare Krishna Prabhus and Matajis!
