All Glories to Harinaam Sankirtan,

Here is some information about Sri Krishna Janamashtmi.

4th September 2007 is the day to f ast, and you might want to feast on Prasadam on the 5th of September, 2007, which incidently is also "Teacher's Day" so do remember all your teachers (gurus) too!

Janamashtmi is celebrated globally, but especially in India it is celebrated as the most popular festival amongst devotees of Lord Krishna, and Hindus in general.

According to the Vaishnava Calendar, 4th is the day of fasting, till 4th midnight, and devotees accept prasadam on 5th after completing the Arati and Abhishekam of Lord Bala Krishna. As per some websites, 3rd is the day of fasting. The date will vary according to the dateline. Thus some websites are observing 3rd/4th instead of 4th/5th.Please keep in mind your location on the global dateline, and observe accordingly. If you want to observe at the exact moment when it is observed in India, just add or substract the number of hours from your location, keeping 12:00 midnight as reference of the time when Lord Krishna was born. For example, if you are in USA, using Eastern Time, then Janamashtmi event occurs at 12:30 pm (afternoon)of 4th September, which is 11 1/2 less than the time in India. Such precision in timing may not be essential, but you can watch TV Channels showing the programs of Janamashtmi being celebrated at midnight in India, during your waking hours in the USA.

Please correct me if there is an error in the dates.

Jai Sri Krishna.
