Guest guest
Sabari tasted the Ber fruits before offering them to Lord Rama, and He ate them, unflinchingly, not considering they were offered after being tasted. Sudama offered a pitifully small bag containing some puffed rice, and Lord Krishna ate it as if it was the best food available. Duryodhana offered tasty foods, but Lord Krishna went to Vidura's house and accepted the simple food. What do we learn from all this? Lord Krishna looks for the bhava of simplicity in HIS devotees, not erudition or scholarly behaviour, neither riches nor glamour. All Krishna wants is pure, unalloyed devotion from His devotees. It does not matter to Krishna what that person has done in the past, irrespective of the religion the person might have followed, Krishna simply accepts the devotee directly. A saint named Jangli Maharaj was a muslim who came in contact with the mercy of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. At his Samadhi in Pune even today muslims and Hindus come and sing Harinaam Sankirtan everyday three times. He was reputed to have attained the mercy of the Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and he became a perfected devotee within a short time. Such is the influence of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Prasadam offered with Love and Devotion will be automatically accepted, not something offered with haughty attitudes. Simplicity is dear to the Lord.
Guest guest
Dear Friends, I fully agree with the given offerings by great devotees like Sabari, Sudama and Vidura as the same is explicitly narrated in the puranas . Also , I agree with the pure devotion of Lord Caitanya's disciple Jangli Maharaja . All these devotees have offered simple "'sattvic' items which are very dear to Lord Krishna . In the Mahabharata , there is one story . Once, Krishna and Arjuna were passing by the side of a crematorium . The Candala in charge of that crematorium saw the supreme Lord and was overwhelmed by devotion . He bowed down to Krishna and rushed to offer something to Him . All what he got was a corpse lying nearby . Cuting that corpse into two pieces , Chandala immediately offered one to the Lord . Seeing this , Lord Krishna smiled and evaded from accepting that strange offering . But , the Lord mercifully bestowed `Mukti'( liberation) to that Chandala devotee . In the Vedic temples of Lord Krishna , the agama-sastra permits only `sattvic' vegetarian items are offered to the Lord . Tamasvic items like cashew nut , papaya , etc are not offered to Bhagavan . Of course, any non-vegetarian stuff is forbidden in the temples . Lord Krishna reveals His preference in Bhagavatam (11-27-7) " Within his means, the devotee should arrange to offer Me sugar candy, sweet rice, ghee, saskuli [rice-flour cakes], apupa [various sweet cakes], modaka [steamed rice-flour dumplings filled with sweet coconut and sugar], samyava [wheat cakes made with ghee and milk and covered with sugar and spices], yogurt, vegetable soups and other palatable foods. " There is a saying that , one is as good as the food he eats and the dogma he follows . Therefore, let us focus all our attention to the chanting of Lord Krishna's all purifying names ; and gratefully partake His delicious prasadam .
