Guest guest
People who disregard the four principles of spiritual life outlined so clearly by Srila Prabhupada (NO MEAT FISH or EGGS,NO INTOXICATION,NO ILLICIT SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS and NO GAMBLING) they are then subjected to the torturous world again.Purity of mind and thought will come only when we give up eating TAMASIC foods like meat, fish and eggs, and start eating SATTVIC fresh clean vegetarian food, and avoid even the mildly stimulating (RAJASIC) onions which arouse unwanted feelings of lust within us. All these principles are actually interrelated, one supports the other.Firstly, abstinence from illicit sex will free the mind from unwanted Karma, then the free mind will require suitable activity to replace its past wrongful deeds, and these activities are found in acts of devotion, bhakti, devotional service. We thus transform our propensity to love by lovingly serving Lord Krishna. Thus a devotee avoids any obstacle such as Tamasic foods, which lead to sleep and other unwanted actions.A devotee also sleeps less than the average man, six hours a day is stipulated. A devotee uses his wealth for serving Krishna, instead of gambling it away in casinos, or investing in shares and similar speculative deals. Having purified one's mind by consuming Sattvic foods, the devotee thus becomes fit for service to Lord Krishna.Only in that service to the Lord is there eternal peace, because when you are serving Krishna, you are doing the eternally correct thing to be done, which is also your constitutional right. For such a devotee even a moment of indulgence in sense pleasures is like a bitter pill. When the devotee relishes transcendental tastes he automatically gives up hankering for the material sense enjoyments available so easily around the world. Thus a devotee is always elevated above the mundane people of the world, and this is a cause of wonder,as Krishna personally is looking after the elevation of devotees.Deep within us, Krishna is always watching our every action! Advanced spirituality also demands giving up unnecessary argument, unnecessary talking, and unwanted actions. If we humbly follow the four principles, and perform our devotional service daily by chanting as much as we can, nothing can stop us from becoming elevated devotees of Lord Krishna.Emancipation in Bhakti leads to maturity and correct behaviour follows. Guest guest
Hare Krishna Thanks for such a nice message, emphasizing the importance of following the regulative principles. I would like to share the below quote from Srila Prabhupada on the significance of the regulative principles- ...We therefore advise our disciples to strictly follow the regulative principles..."Unless one is firmly fixed in the regulative principles, one may perform mischievous acts, even if one is a member of the Krsna consciousness movement. We therefore advise our disciples to strictly follow the regulative principles ; otherwise the most important movement for the upliftment of humanity will be hampered due to dissension among its members. Those who are serious about pushing forward this Krsna consciousness movement should remember this and strictly follow the regulative principles so that their minds will not be disturbed."...
