Hare Krsna The stage of perfection is called trance, or samadhi, when one's mind is completely restrained from material mental activities by practice of yoga. This is characterized by one's ability to see the self by the pure mind and to relish and rejoice in the self. In that joyous state, one is situated in boundless transcendental happiness and enjoys himself through transcendental senses. Established thus, one never departs from the truth and upon gaining this he thinks there is no greater gain. Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty. This indeed is actual freedom from all miseries arising from material contact. Gita 6:22-23 This human birth has not been received for the enjoyment of pleasures and experience of pain, rather it has been received to rise above the two and to attain immense joy, supreme bliss and eternal peace. And having attained this, there is nothing left to attain or to seek If favorable things, individuals, situations, etc cause us to be happy, or even the likelihood of having these will make us happy, that is, if within there is a desire and longing to attain favorable things, individuals, circumstances etc., then we will be unable to effectively utilize those favorable things, situations etc. Rather, the energy and the ability to effectively utilize these favorable circumstances, will not arise. In fact the strength and

energy will be wasted in enjoying those favorable circumstances and situations, rather than making proper use of them. In other words, the energy will be engaged in enjoyment of pleasures or brooding over them. Similarly, if we become unhappy on arrival of, or have anxiety on the arrival of unfavorable times, things, individual, incidents, situations, circumstances, activities etc., then we are not properly utilizing those unfavorable situations. We will be incapable of bearing sorrow and pain. Rather we will become entangled in experience of the unfavorable experiences and remain unhappy. This human birth is to rise above pleasure and pain and attain supreme bliss and eternal peace.
