Gayatri Chandasaam Aham - says Bhagavan Krishna in the Gita.

The Essence of the Gita lies in the holy Gayatri. When the Gayatri is considered as Veda-mata, and the Upanishads are considered the Vedanta, the Crest of the Vedas, and when the Gita is considered the essence of all Upanishads, this conclusion is but natural.

We all might not know how to chant the holy Gayatri. But we can find out the meaning of the Gayatri and meditate on it.

Here's an interpretation, as given by Pandit Shri Ram Acharya, the founder of Gayatri Pariwar, dedicated to spreading the message of the Gayatri worldwide...

"O God, Thou art the giver of life, the remover of pain and sorrow, the bestower of happiness; O Creator of the Universe, may we receive Thy supreme, sin destroying light; may Thou guide our intellect in the right direction"

The chanter of the Gayatri also chants - "Aakaashat patitam toyam yadhaa gachchathi saagaram Sarva devanamaskaaram keshavam prathi gachchati".

Just as all the water pouring out of the sky finally end up in the ocean, worship of all God(dess)es finally reach Keshava himself.

Whichever God we worship, through whatsoever means, let us do so meditating on the inner meaning of the sacred Gayatri mantra.

With regards,

Hari
