Guest guest
Questions asked to Devotees?? Must ReaD!!!! Part 4Dealing with athiests Q. How do we deal with atheists? What is the best thing to do? A. Typically, we should avoid debating with hardcore atheists. Most of them, have religious affiliations and they are systematically trained to believe in atheism. Their belief is more on sentimental platform then sheer philosophy and they are often stubborn. To those who are open tell them that if there is no God who created the universe and life. If they say it came by chance or nature ask them what is the practical experiment that has proved that theory. There is none. No scientist ever got a nobel prize for creating life in lab and none created universe in lab either. If they are open then its worthwhile to debate, other wise let the school of hard, knocks teach them. Krishna - Why is He black? Q. Why is Krishna blue? A. Krishna's complexion highlights the inconceivable nature of His form. A dark complexion is generally not considered attractive, yet spiritually, when manifests in the Supreme Transcendental Person, the same bluish-black fresh rain cloud color becomes Shyamsundara, the epitome of all attractiveness. The Bible states that God's form is not like any form seen on land, in air or in water. Krishna's form is unlike any thing seen anywhere in this world - black yet beautiful. Thus, the darkness of Krishna's form is not a dushana (blemish), but a bhushana (ornament). The dark yet delectable form of Krishna reminds us that love lies beyond logic and that the heart probes deeper than the brawn and the brain. Srila Prabhupada, the founder Acharya of ISKCON, who propagated Krishna-bhakti worldwide, expressed the profound philosophical truth of Krishna's complexion and form in a disarmingly sweet exchange. When an African asked him somewhat facetiously, " Do you worship a black god? " Srila Prabhupada replied, with no malice and full poise, " Yes. Krishna is black - but not like you. " Correcting others- Who and How? Jun 13th, 2008 Q. We should not critise others or in other words we should not show them their faults but rather we should be introspective, first we should find that where we are going wrong. Doing introspection is accepted, but if we don not tell others that they are going wrong how will they improve or realize their mistakes? A. H.H. Radhanath Swami mentioned in a Srimad Bhagavatam class recently, that if we are busy finding and pointing out the faults in others, then we fail to see the faults in ourself. Therefore introspection is necessary. We may point out faults only under the following circumstances :- 1) Criticism should always be constructive, i.e. If by our speaking, the concerned person is going to accept our opinion and correct himself or herself, then we should speak. 2) If we are in the position of an authority or guardian, then we can speak. If this is not the case, we may end up spoiling the situation rather than improving it. We have to genuinely analyse our motivations. Are we genuinely concerned with helping that person? or is it out of pride and envy that we are reacting. Sometimes, communicating through a person who has a rapport or good relationship with the person concerned may be more effective than direct communication. If we correct somebody in the mood of a humble servant rather than a dictator, it will be more effective in changing the heart! Radharani and Tilak Q. Why Radharani does not wear tilak? The question is on behalf of my friend. My explanation was that tilak comes from lake where gopies gave up their bodies and go back to join Krishna in Spiritual Dham. It is the dust of all gopies. But she does not seem to be satisfied with my answer. Can you help? - (Name forbidden) A. Traditionally Indian women wore bindis on their foreheads, not the Gaudiya Vaisnava tilaka that we see today. That's why we see Radharani and other deities of gopis not having the regular tilaka. Modern women do not put anything on their forehead. That's probably the reason why Prabhupada told ISKCON women to wear the regular tilaka in order to distinguish them from others. Another reason: It's Her personal choice. Bhrigu Samhita's relevance to devotees Q. How perfect are Bhrigu-Samhita's predictions? A lot of ISKCON followers consult Bhrigu. Can our current actions drastically change our destiny? A. Bhrigu-samhita, being a part of the Vedic literature, is all-perfect. It deals with astrological science and the predictions made according these calculations are always accurate. In his purport to Srimad-Bhagavatam (6.1.49), Srila Prabhupada writes, " A human being must be educated to understand his past life and how he can endeavour for a better life in the future. There is even a book, called Bhrigu-Samhita which reveals information about one's past, present and future lives according to astrological calculations. Somehow or other, one must be enlightened about his past, present and future. " With proper reference to the context, this instruction is meant to make us aware of the importance of the human form of life so that we don't take it cheaply. If astrological predictions can help us understand our future destiny, we may take corrective action so that we can " endeavour for a better life in the future, " which of course means a life that is more Krishna conscious. Our current actions and also our thoughts, prepare our future destiny because they decide what we think at the time of death. " Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kunti, that state he will attain without fail, " Krishna says in the Bhagavad-gita (8.6). If we think of Krishna at death, we go to His abode. Overall, Prabhupada did not very much encourage his disciples to consult astrological charts and understand the future. As soon as one takes to Krishna consciousness, all his karma is destroyed, and the Lord takes full charge of the devotee. Whatever happens in his life either auspicious or inauspicious happens under the direct supervision of the Lord. The devotee therefore has nothing to worry about his future.
