Hare Krishna! Dear Devotees ,

This event occurred at Ezhamattoor Paramabhattakara Ashram . Sri Chattambi Swamy's disciple Sri Tithapada Swamy , in the Guru's presence , miraculously cured within an hour a chronic swelling around the neck of a girl patient . Subsequent Guru-Disciple conversation :

"How did you cure that girl's illness? "

"My mixing certain medicines and applying it on the neck "

"Just by that , will a horrible swelling like this disappear so quickly ? "

"Guru's mercy helped to reduce the swelling " .

"Have you cured any such illness before ? "

"Sometimes , I had to do it . "

Then Sri Chattambi Swamy advised :

" Illness happens to a person due to his/her sin . Reactions of *Prarabda-karma* be it joy or sorrow will definitely arrive . So, a question may arise whether the illness to be treated or not . The root reason for illness is Sin . It happens due to the deeds in either previous birth or current birth . Both the positive and negative results of all *Karmas* must be experienced . Look how even Maha-Jnanis are suffering from *Prarabda* . Attempting to stop such a *Prarabda* is like using a small earth-lump to stop a furious wave . Without understanding this truth , some people use their *Tapa-Sakti* to cure illness . But, such miracle-doers gradually lose their *Tapa-Sakti* and themselves become chronically sick . This girl's illness quickly disappeared only because of your spending of *Tapa-sakthi* which you have earned after so many years hard penance . *Tapa-sakti* should not be used to remove any illness which could be cured by a doctor. Let the doctors cure illnesses . We Sannyasis cure only Samsara . Our duty is only to give *Jnana-upadesa* . Where it is really essential , we could suggest certain *Vrita* and Fasts . Don't repeat such mistakes in future . It could backfire on you " .

Please chant :

Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna , Krishna Krishna Hare Hare !
