Dear all,

"Sreemad Bhaagavathaakhyoyam prathyaksha Krishna eva Hi" or Srimad Bhagavatam is indeed Bhagavan Sri Krishna Himself. If we read or hear Bhagavatham just once with intense devotion, we will unite with Him. Parikshith had to hear only once, so also Dundhukaari, Gokarna's brother. Ordinary people like us have to listen to it again and again until our devotion becomes as intense as Parikshit's.

There are 12 skandhas or parts in Bhagavatham. Each skandha represents different parts of Bhagavan's body.

1. Prathama skandha or skandham one - Bhagavaan's feet. Even if we are able to read only the prathama skandham, (part 1) it is enough, provided we are reading with sincere Bhakthi because surrendering at his feet is the most important step. From there Narayanan will walk with us guiding us to the destination.

2. Dwitheeya skandha or skandham two - Shanks. His shanks are filled with blessings to be showered on devotees. So from Dwitheeya skandham (part 2) onwards we start experiencing Govinda's blessings.

3. Thritheeya skandahm or skandham three - Thighs. They are the thighs for devotees to rest when they are tired of the weight of Bhava samsaaram or material world. When we reach thrutheeya skandham, (part 3) we get to rest on Achyutha's thighs.

4. Chathurthha skandham or skandham four - Waist. When we are afraid of facing the difficulties of life, He lets us hug Him around His strong waist. By chathurtha skandahm, (part 4) we feel that we can always depend on Chathurbahu's strength.

5. Panchama skandham or skandham five- Stomach. This stomach of Bhagavaan houses all the world during dissolution and Yashodaji worried about this stomach getting upset when Balakrishna ate mud! When we reach Panchama skandha we feel that we are inside Damodaran or the feeling of "I am yours" becomes strong..

6. Shashta skandham or skandham six- Heart. When we reach Shashta skandha, we can see that Muralimanoharan's heart is filled with all His bahkthaas starting from Brahma, Siva, Prahlada, Narada, Uddhava. Gopikaas etc. to Poonthaanam, Chaithanya Mahaprabhu, Melpatthoor, Vilvamangalam etc. etc. So our desire to become a sincere devotee to get a place in His heart becomes intense. So, in turn, we get inspired to hold Him constantly in our heart!

7. Sapthama skandham or skandham seven- Chest. His majestic chest has been leased to Lakshmi Devi for ever. By the time we reach Sapthama skandham (part 7) we see only Lakshmisametha Vishnu ready to shower blessings on all devotees.

8. Ashtama skandham or skandham eight- Neck. Even the most beautiful conch will be ashamed to look at His handsome neck holding the most beautiful face. When we reach Ashtama Skandham (part 8) devotion to Bhagavan fills up to our neck leaving a few more inches to completely immerse in the ocean of Bhakthi towards Gopijanavallabhan.

9. Navama skandham or skandham nine- Shoulders. Those are the strong shoulders that gave Arjuna, strength, inspiration and energy. When we reach Navama skandha (part 9) we feel strong, inspired and energized ready to face anything with Madhavaa's blessings.

10. Dashama skandham or skandham ten- Face. This face is the source of all the universe and it's inhabitants. This face is the owner of the name Krishna who attracts everybody. When we reach Dashama skandham, we are glued to Sree Krishna's face, never turning away our face in any other direction.

11. Ekadasha skandham or skandham eleven- Head. His head is the source of all Knowledge. When we climb to the Ekadasha skandham, (part 11) our avidya or ignorance fades giving way to the illuminating presence of Balagopala with in us.

12. Dwadasha skandham or skandham twelve- Top of the head or Brahma randhram. This is the spot where we merge with Him. So when we reach Dwaadasha skandham, we merge with Paramaathma never to be born again to experience the repeated cycle of birth and death.

That is what King Parikshith, the most qualified Shrothaavu or listener, experienced by listening to Bhgavatham from the most qualified Vakthaavu or orator Suka Muni.
