Hare Krsna dear devotees, I hope your week of chanting has been focused and dedicated to the holy names of the Lord. Here

in Brazil it's Spring with hot weather and rain all the time, looking

outside the window I can see grey sky and a cool breeze coming. Reminds

me of the farm temple I used to live, always very fresh weather. The

boys are there playing soccer in the rain....they have already chanted

their rounds, made some bhajan and took nice prasadam served to the

Deities of Gaura Nitai today. Kesava is becoming a good cook he helped

me with the mango ice cream, Gouranga Potatoes, Byriani Rice, Banana

Lassi and Pea Samosas. The preparations came out well and is very

purifying to our spiritual life always engage our minds in service

during the day. These days I consider my japa average, even

though I wake up early to chant, listen about good tips for chanting

and meditate on the holy names I think I need to give more of myself.

We usually make so many plans in our lives and not always they are

fully connected to our spiritual lives improvement or our japa. Why

do we have this tendency to put everything first then later our

japa....this is incorrectbecause our japa needs to be priority and if

chanting is strong the whole day is going to be peaceful and focused in

our aim which is service to the lotus feet of the vaisnavas and Krsna. All

starts by being grateful we have the holy names, our precious jewel and

the devotees to serve - we have this philosophy and also inner strength

to go on with our spiritual lives....intelligence to distinguish

between what is favourable and what is unfavourable to devotional

service and mainly understand Krsnas plans to our lives. This

japa group is loaded with wonderful tips from the devotees and we are

so blessed by their association. I would like to thank them for the

nice service and ask them to bless my life so I can go on with my

service.May you all have a wonderful week and be able to chant with your heart for the pleasure of the Supreme.your servant,Aruna devi

4 Tips Before Chanting Japa

Here are some handy tips before you start chanting Japa:First of all, make sure you are not tired.Make sure you have proper pronunciation.Make sure you are not being distracted by anything.

Then fix on your concentration.Taken from www.iskcon.com-- At the present moment our minds are polluted with the dirt accumulated over millions and millions of lifetimes of sense gratification. Even though our original pure nature is eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss, due to our mental contamination we are presently suffering in the realm of temporality, ignorance, and misery. By the purificatory process of chanting the holy names of God we can revive our original, pure nature and thus relish the sweetest happiness at every minute.

Chant:Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare HareHare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare
