Guest guest
i had the opportunity to visit this week with my family including brother's and parents. it was so wonderful to have repeated darshans. i noticed that the lord has been decorated to have two hands but in most pictures i see he has four. does any one know how many he does ? also, i know that he was established by siva, worshipped by sankara, naraya bhatathiri etc. which school of vedanta do the priests follow - sankara's, ramanuja's, madhwa's ? Guest guest
My last visit to Guruvayoor was in March 2000 around the time of my 7th wedding anniversary. We drove in a cab from Coimbatore. It was my first visit since I can remember, although according to my parents I went there as a kid and cannot remember that. I remember swaing green paddy fields and coconut trees, the scenary was so beautiful. I only got a short darshan on the lord, and would love to see him again whenever he calls me back. I live in the U.S and am unable to go as and when I please. We performed a thulabaram for my daughter and it was a nice day, spent videotaping the outside grounds, yards, and my daughter toddling around the market area. I purchased a book on the Narayaneeyam at Guruvayoor on this day, with translations in English (Ramakrishna Math). I was so lost in my maya that I did not even look at it or make an attempt to read it for the past four years. In the past month or so, certain events in my life have made me seek the lord and I now, I am "unable" to put the book aside. It is giving me inner strenght and peace. Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya !! All glories to the merciful Lord Guruvayurappan. I am thrilled to join this wonderful group which aims to glorify the kind Lord. My sincere thanks to the moderator of this group. I visited Guruvayur last in 2001 to perform the choroonu of my son at the temple. Every visit to the temple and every darshanam is such a divine experience that one is at a loss of words to describe. After bathing at the water tank which the devaswom has managed to keep so clean, I had the opportunity to perform shayana pradharshanam. It was a very humbling experience. I felt that our real destination in life is to serve the Lord and not get entangled in the web of maya. Then came the darshan of the Lord which was an exhilarating experience. His smile is so captivating and magnificent ! One could keep coming again and again just craving for a 2-second vision of Him. A vision that remains with you and makes you want more and more of Him. All that one could utter is " Narayana, Narayana, It is due to Your abundant mercy that You are revealing Your Self to this sinner. Guruvayur is such a lovely place that one keeps wanting to go again and again. However, due to innumerable commitments and obstacles cropping up one after the other, I have not been able to revisit ever since. I guess Krishna is testing us and wants to know how one can circumvent all problems and still run back to Him ! Guest guest
" Krishna Guruvayoorappa " I went to Guruvayur in the third week of Feb 2004 alongwith my wife and son. We had the evening darshan (around 8.00 PM). Also we had the Nirmalya darshan on the next day. This is the first time I am going there. I felt as if I had a long time association with that place. I have also written a commentary in Tamil for Sriman Narayaneeyam. This is due for publication during August 2004 (by a leading publisher in Tamil Nadu). I started writing this the soon I returned back to Chennai after visiting the Gods' own temple. I think He called me there just to order me to do this work. I shall let know the group the soon this is out in the stalls. " Ever in the services of Sri Appan " Sridharan
