Guest guest
Hello Sangeetha - In BG 4.34, Lord Krishna gives direct instruction on how to get jnana. tad viddhi pranipadena pari prasnena sevaya upadekshyanti te jnanam jnaninas tattva darsinah. You should gain that knowledge serving a self-realized person and enquring from him. The seer will impart the knowledge to you. The knowledge is also given by Paramatma within the heart but one cannot be certain of his knowledge unless it is in line with sastras & guru. There are different vedic & bhagavata traditions that teach the vedic knowledge and have provided different conclusions. The following are some : 1) ISKCON : Following the line of Caitanya & sad gosvamis, Srila Prabhupada established ISKCON. They teach vaishnava philosophy where attaining Krishna in vrindavan is the top most goal. One serves Krishna eternally as his friend, lover, a dust at his lotus feet etc. 2) Sri Vaishnavas : They follow the line of Sri Ramanuja and there are two branches - Vadakalai & Thenkalai. Vadakalai is philosophically inclined and Thenkalai is more for direct surrender. They teach that attaining Narayana to serve Him in vaikuntha, free from all concerns is the goal. 3) Madhwas : This is also another Vaishnava sampradaya that teaches that serving Vishnu as a dust in his lotus feet is the highest goal of life. While ISKCON teaches bheda abheda, sri vaishnavas teach vishishtadvaita and madhwas teach dwaita. They differ in how they describe the relationship between god, jiva and matter. 4) There are other vaishnava sampradayas of vallabha etc. and also bhagvatha schools of thought. 5) There are saivite sampradaya which teach that attaining siva in kailash as the supreme goal of life. 6) Sankara's Advaita : This school is denounced by vaishnava sampradayas as impersonal. They teach that there is nothing but brahman. It is the brahman that manifests as different personalities of godhead incl. krishna, rama, siva etc. And this world has brahman as the basis. You are that brahman in the ultimate realization, which is infinite bliss. This realization is possible through bhakti & jnana. Personally I like ISKCON & Sankara (opposites). I am searching. Guest guest
Hello Sangeetha, You have asked a very Imp question. As far as reading GITA is concerned, it is a very responsible job. Lord himself declares that becoz in the course of time flow the true message in the text has lost its actual purport, I will refine it & will present before you my dear Arjuna. Based on this, I will recommend you to state all your querries to a bonafide spiritual master (Guru/Acharya) who can clarify your doubts & will lead you better. You need to invest a good amount of energy & time in identifying a master as per your requirement & stand. Becoz, person to person it varies. At present there are lot many healthy publications available on GITA. But still still one should be very cautious & particular while buying those. May be senior members of our group be able to comment on this. I addition to this, to start with " Njanayogam " one can always refer to Lakshmanopdesham in Aranyakandam of Adhyatma Ramayanam as an initial step where Ezhuthachhan has very effectively brought out the substance of importance. This is easily understandable. Please have a look at it also. Thank you. May Lord Krishna be your life charioteer................. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama hare Hare --\ --\ -- N.B. - " Bhagavad Gita - As It Is " by A C Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada (ISCKON) is a recommendable publication. But, please crosscheck with other devotees also who can input their valuable information on it.
