Guest guest
Perfectly Correct Sangeetha , This is what is supposed to be understood by each person as far as the instructions in the literiture goes. The names of God will for sure bring mukthi to the sufferings.I had been to guruvayoor last week , Once we reach there in front of the godly shrine we tend to forget all the worries and surrender at the feet of the Shri Guruvayoorappan . When we speak of nature, the question may be raised, " Whose nature? " Nature is not active independently. Such a concept is foolish. In Bhagavad-gita it is clearly stated that material nature does not work independently. When a foolish man sees a machine he may think that it is working automatically, but actually it is not-there is a driver, someone in control, although we sometimes cannot see the controller behind the machine due to our defective vision. There are many electronic mechanisms which work very wonderfully, but behind these intricate systems there is a scientist who pushes the button. Similarly, we should understand that this cosmic manifestation which we call nature is a great machine and that behind this machine there is God, Krishna. This is also affirmed in Bhagavad-gita where Krishna says: mayadhyakshena prakriti süyate sa-caracaram hetunanena kaunteya jagad viparivartate " This material nature is working under My direction, O son of Kunti, producing all the moving and unmoving beings, and by its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again. Guest guest
Dear Nisha, Om Namoh Vasudevaya Namah: Nothing wrong on chanting Hare rama....basically all the god and goddess are replica of lord vishna and maya. as you are aware that Lord rama is is avtar of Lord vishnu similary anjenaya is rudra avtar of Lord shiva.. and we all know that brahma, vishnu and maheshwar is one and by maya we are saying it is three. Just examble, in our normal life we are seeing one common personality in different ways. one man has been seen as husband, father uncle, friend grand father colleague in his oiffice etc.. we are seeing so many persalities in a common man. similary it is happening in the god/goddess case also.. we should not do anything wrong, and be kind to the god what we are chatting is immaterial there is a god, we should have god fear and start the day with pray and pay before going to sleep, and also whenever you are going to do something, or new thing.. pray to the god... we dont know how god protecting us... here below I writing a small story which heard from my gurus etc. one man who was very good devotee to the god. he was having good times, later on he started struggling, and strugling. when he died he met the god at the heaven, the devotee broken and told the god m cheater, during my life i always remembers you, and have not done anyting wrong, when i need your support you went awaym have you seen my end?.. etc,, the gold replied with a laugh, dear bhakt, I was always with you, nbut have not noticed me , again the devotee told him see, i was having a good life and larteron you know that i struglling that where were you, you have not helped me at all., the god told him ok, lets go thru your past life, He saw 4 prints whereever he went in his life etc... the god was saying dear friend, the two foot prints are yours and other two are mine he was seeing his entire life, when the stuggled period came he was seeing only two foot prints, the devottee told to the god, see here is the time when i was struggling, now i can see only two foot prints, i mean you went away and i was alone, why you did it ?, the god said, dear friend the two prints which you are seiing is not yours, its mine, i was holding you, other wise you would have more struggeled mopre i had protected you... devote you life on god, he protect you, do your job, dont do wrong.. god is always with you. regards Ganga --- thanu_ sree <thanu_sree2001 wrote: > > HARE KRISHNA... > thank you sangeetha for > giving information about hanuman swamy and about > such a mantra.i have a doubt about this.i usually > chant " hare krishna hare krishna...... Guest guest
" This material nature is working under My direction, O son of Kunti, producing all the moving and unmoving beings, and by its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again. " In Bhagavad-gita it is clearly stated that material nature does not work independently. I agree with Mr.Sajeev. I used to read a lot of fiction and other stuff; last one year now I have taken to reading the Gita and feel this is the greatest book ever written. You cannot read the Gita without feeling hope and enthusiasm and a surge of faith. From my readings of the Gita what I have understood is if every moment of our lives we can think or say to ourselves " this is God's doing " and " whatever I am doing is for God " we should be all right. So even in success or when things are happening the way we want them to happen, this will help us remember that we owe thanks for it to God and similarly when things are not going our way if we can also tell ourselves " this is the way God wants it " this attitude will help us sail through life. It is hard to remember this always but one can always try. When things don't happen my way, I try to remember the last time things did not happen the way I wanted, but it turned out to be in my best interests. I am sure all of us have experiences like that. I must say thanks to all of you who are making the efforts to make this a meaningful forum for devotees to communicate on a topic on which we feel strongly. Some of the photos that have been uploaded are breathtakingly beautiful. Some of the word documents uploaded are a source of delight to any devotee. I grew up outside Kerala, don't read/write Malayalam (though I speak it fluently) and so find the documents in English especially helpful. I have uploaded a file on the Lalitasaharanamam that I found on the web in English; also I have uploaded a file on Raja Yoga wherein Swami Vivekananda explains the various steps that are necessary for getting closer with God. The idea is we have to start somewhere and a few steps in every janma are going to take us that much closer to God. Nothing like reading Vivekananda when you feel absolutely without hope and strength...! if interested see www.vivekananda.org God bless. Hari Om. Veena. Guest guest
It is the sole duty of people like you Veena,to really spread this knowledge of HareKrishna to the world,to each and every human, the myth ideas dream vision behind this realisation.Perfectly said Veena, the fictions or any other sources are just maya and we are bound to this maya unconsiously..We realise the hidden truth once we come out of it.To realise the same we need to read, not just oscillating between the blind adherence to the old customs and slavish imitation to the modern ways but understand the real concept of spirituality and the essence of this life.Matter is designed by us..Science is a description from what we percieve. For eg.We thing there is a start for everything and End for everything.Every matter in this world Right. We even tend to believe that there is a start to this earth Right.Go above the worldly Science and percieve more than that,How could you believe that there is a start to Universes .. End to Unniverses..as it is Black hole..wide and wide where no line can say that " I am the end " .So that means now there is a science which more than the understanding of the human brain which in this life time we cannot understand so that means, we need to surrender onto the Lotus Feet of Shri Krishna ,and make our life meaningful. Hari Om. Veena. Guest guest
In the Puranas there is a story of one old man who was addicted to sinful activity, a very cruel person. But when he was on his death bed, at the last minute he had a change of heart. He said, " Well, why not try it? All my life I've seen these Vaishnavas chanting Hare Krishna. I'm going to die anyway, so I might as well try it. " He called his servant and told him " Go to the marketplace and purchase some of those beads I see the devotees chanting on, those japa malas. " His servant was surprised. " You want japa-mala? What are you going to do with them? " " I'm going to chant Hare Krishna. Give it a try. " So the servant went to the marketplace, but unfortunately the old man died before his servant returned. So at that time the Yama-dutas came, and the Vishnu-dutas also came at the same time. Both questioned the other's presence. The Yama-dutas said, " This man was a very sinful person. He never did one pious activity. There is nothing in his record to show that he did anything pious or transcendental. So what are you doing here? " The Vishnu-dutas replied, " We have come to take this man back to Godhead simply because he had a desire to chant Hare Krishna. MORAL: If nama-abhasa, contaminated chanting of the holy name is so powerful then what of those devotees who are chanting the pure name? Guest guest
!! Sri Rama Jayam !! Nice to read the flow of opinions & querries like this. " Hare Krishna.....Hare Rama " - mahamantra is the most established practice of Namasankirtanam, particularly meant for devotees in the kali age. A " Mantra " in true sense, is a spiritual formula that contains names/words arranged in a very balanced format & demands that it should be chanted in a very prescribed method by a recognized Guru, who had already understood & digested the cause & effect of the same. In other words, the place, time & relevance of chanting a mantra must be justifiable. Otherwise, negative consequences can always be expected. Though it appears very strange, it is true. Apply this to any chemical formula or drug.......unless & untill the usage standards are set by the fabricator, a common man should not use it. " Gayatri mantra " , " Aditya Hrudayam " , " Mrityunjaya mantra " etc. are very common examples, every devotee might have heard. But remember these mantras are not referred under the category of Namasankirtanam. And, " Hare Krishna.......Hare Rama " is a mahamantra (the topmost mantra), plus, it is a " Namasankirtanam " i.e.- can be chanted anytime/everytime, anywhere/everywhere & anyone/everyone. This special feature makes this mantra more adoptable & appreciable. This mantra contains three words set in a very organized way - Hare - Represents the energy of supreme Lord (internal + marginal + external).......... Krishna - Represents the all-attractive............. Rama - Represents all-pleasure..................... Still, there exists disputes among different spiritual communities on the pattern of chanting this mantra ---- " Hare Rama.......Hare Krishna " or " Hare Krishna .......... Hare Rama " . But to a common man this is enjoyable in either ways, as names of the Lord are equally respectful & loveable to him/her. This belief is a direct derivative that it denotes a recommended practice of chanting Lord's name. There is no second opinion on the fact that this Shodakshara Mahamantram is the very form of Supreme Lord himself who incarnates & plays in the heart of every being - no matter we address him by different names - Hari, Narayana, Rama, Krishna.........We are a part & parcel of the supreme soul & we are attached to him through his names. Guest guest
Dear Nisha, I think even the most devout person goes through periods when he or she feels doubts and frustrations. But those are the times when we really have to persist with the prayers or the routine that we have developed in our efforts to get closer to God. I would suggest that you visit the following links. Most of them are personal experiences of different devotees and when you read those you will be recharged! Check out the following links: http://www.guruvayoor.com/ On the left is a link that says Personal experiences. Read through that and when you are done I am sure you won't have any doubts. http://guruvayurdevaswom.org/ Click on the button on the left that says temples and under that read the Legends and Saints sections. I hope this helps. I have also found that there is nothing like reading the Gita when you are plagued by any doubt, sadness or uncertainty. For some people money or power or status is not the end of life; but they may also not have an idea of where they are going with their lives. But again the Gita is a tremendous source of strength in all these times. More later. Guest guest
That was an interesting question and an impressive answer too. The question raised by Nisha is very common. This happens in everyone's mind. No one is perfectly a devotee all the time. There are times when your mind gets tuned to God. What we need to do is simple. Increase the time when we are actually getting tuned to Him. We could do that by practice I believe. Rememberance of His names all the time. Its not easy, but surely possible. It comes by constant practice. And that is absolutely necessary to reach a fearless, doubtless (nirvikalpa) state. The very thought of bhagavan's name at the time of crisis itself is a good blessing given by God. Hold on to that and climb the baby steps. Hope this helps...just wrote down how I felt like answering that question. regards Siva. Guest guest
!! Sri Rama Jayam !! Hi Nisha & Group. This is really a very root issue & the suggestions that came up are extremely worth to accept & implement. As correctly quoted by Veena, no person is a perfect devotee all time. All it depends on the state of mind & on the consciousness level. Though it's really a very tough job, but certainly achievable. As far as my experience of life says, when I am encircled with confusions & ill feelings, I do a self-analysis seating my ishtadeva " Lord Rama " inside my heart. I speak out all my situations to him & believe in me, he is never too late to respond. That's what I have learned. I try to look into the microscopic level of the issue that I am facing & my Lord is always there to assist me. This has helped me to raise my devotion manifold times. If we look into our Mythology, we can see lot many high-class devotees having encountered with such problems in a more or less similar way & let us not forget that Lord reached out to rescue them everytime. That is his way of dealing with his dependants. Say for - Vibhishana (Abandoned by the Rakshasa community); Pandavas (Wandering in forest); Ahalya (Blamed by her husband); Dhruva (Abused by his step-mother); Prahlada (Constantly tested by his father)..... & many many more. There is one common element connecting all these devotees that they were never too late to identify that " Lord " alone is their sole saviour. Let us all tame our mind in the same way. We will definitely see results benefiting us !! Let Sri Guruvayoorappan be our Life Charioteer everytime ....... & he will drive all of us to the kingdom of Love, Peace & Welfare. Hare Krishna ..... Hare Rama........ sivaprasad padmanabhan [talented_arian] Friday, March 11, 2005 2:05 AM guruvayur Re: [Guruvayur/Guruvayoor] hare krishna That was an interesting question and an impressive answer too. Guest guest
I agree with Sivaprasad.Only constant practise and chanting can take one closer to God. Think about the creations , think about the wonders of " Lord Krishna " Man made the aeroplanes, God made the birds, Man made the vehicles, God make the legs, Man made the microscope, God made the eyes, Man made the satellites, God made the Planets The creations of God if for U to be comfortable ,so Praise his Creations and read Bhagavatham , Keep chanting the mantra , This will take you more near to God. Guest guest
!! Sri Rama Jayam !! Hello Nisha, Your querry is very well suited, for, we all are heading towards a major celebration of ASHTAMI ROHINI, also known as Gokulashtami and Krishna Jayanti or Janmashtami. As we know, it is celebrated as the birth day of our beloved Krishna and falls on the fourth lunar asterism, Rohini and the 8th quart of the moon (Ashtami). Ashtami Rohini is observed as fast. On this day, women specially refrain from food and keep vigil in Krishna's temple till night and when, after the Pujas are over, they partake of things that have been already offered to the Lord. The temple is illuminated with myriads of oil fed lamps and worship goes on almost till the early hours of the morning. Ashtami is therefore auspicious in the month of Bhadra. If one fasts on that day and prays to Krishna, the sins of one’s earlier seven births are atoned for. But this vrata is to be observed in Krishnapaksha and not in shuklapaksha, since Krishna was born in Krishnapaksha. Together with Krishna, Rohini and the moon, Devaki, Vasudeva, Yashoda, Nanda and Balarama are also to be worshipped on the occasion. Appam and Palpayasam are considered to be important offerings on this day. Ashtami-Rohini is observed as a "vratham" in all Illams of Kerala. Grown-ups eat only the noon meal, and even that with Nivedyam. Children, however, eat a second meal in the late afternoon ("pakal oonu"). "Kaikottikali" is a major sport of this grand celebration. I hope this will be a very good event for you to get started. I have not much info on the relationship of Thursdays with Narayana or his avatars & associated festivals. I will try to accumulate more info & pass it to you.
