Guest guest
Dear Devotees, I am interested in learning Bhagavatam. Are there any cassettes available for this or has to be only learnt from someone you know? If cassettes are available, which one is the best. Also, is there any audio file of Rudra gita available on the web somewhere? Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Sri Guruvayoorappa Sharanam! Dear Ms Ramanathan: I appreciate your sincere interest in learning the Bhagavatham. In my experience, it is good to try and learn the " Narayaneeyam " and have a good understanding of this work before proceeding to the Bhagawatham, although you can always do so simultaneously. Regarding a Guru, yes, it is always best to obtain " Sharanagati " in the feet of a Guru prior to initiating such endeavours. However, given the time and age that we are in, sometimes, it may not be possible to have access to a Guru. I was fortunate to have a Guru to teach the " Narayaneeyam " to me locally here in Boston. Here is what I did when I wanted to learn the Bhagavatham, I purchased the four volume books published by the Ramakrishna Mission, went to our local temple, placed it in the feet of lord Venkateshwara, performed the archanai, read the " Namaskara Slokam, dasakam 98 " of the Narayaneeyam eleven times, and prostrated before the temple priest (as if a Guru)and had him give the books to me along with a flower from the feet of the lord. I read the " Narayeeyam " daily and try to read the Bhagavatham once a week. Sri Krishnaaya Parabrahmane Namaha. Guest guest
Dear Ms Ramanathan: There are several cassettes and audio CD's available, including recitations by the famous Sri Anantha Raama Deekshitar " , Sri Sundara Kumar, and Sri Jayram Sharma, however, these are discourses and tend to be generalized with emphasis on the Bala Leela, and they refer extensively to the Narayaneeyam. I have not yet found an audio CD exclusively on the Bhagavatham. Narasimhan guruvayur , Sunita ramanthan <rsunitaa> wrote: > > Dear Devotees, > I am interested in learning Bhagavatam.
