!! Sri Rama Jayam !!

Aditya hrudayam is a Stotra by Sage Agastya to Lord Sri Rama at the battle field

between Ravana and Rama. The great Cosmic Sage Agastya dictates this hymns of

Sun God to Sri Rama to ensure Victory to him. Thus forms part of the yuddha

Kanda (Canto 107) of Ramayana by Sage Valmiki.

Aditya hrudayam contains the innovative hymns with many secrets and hidden

meanings. The Jnana, Jnata, and Jneyam is completed as Sage Agastya is the Jnana

and the Lord Rama Jnata and the presiding deity Jneyam is Sun in the heart. Thus

the Triputi is completed. Hence it has come to be known as Aditya hrudayam.

Further Sage Agastya has stated that success is assured for all those who recite

these Sloka thrice a day.

It is said that Consciousness in the man and in the cosmos Sun is the same.

Absolute consciousness is being understood only with the help of speech. These

mystic words are interwoven in these Slokas. The Slokas third to twenty four

Synchronises with the twenty four letters of Gayatri Mantra.

In Aditya hrudayam there are " Thirty " Slokas in total --

1. In this the first and second sloka depicts the arrival of sage Agastya to

Sri Rama.

2. The third stated the greatness of the Stotra, the fourth sloka explained

about happiness, liberation and knowledge.

3. The fifth will remove the related sins and with hold sorrows.

4. From Sixth to fifteenth the description pertains to self effulgence and

impresses that one pervading out side and inside is same.

5. From Sixteenth to twentieth slokas are very important for mantra Japa. Here

cosmic greatness of Lord Surya as the internal Caitanya in us is high lighted.

Further the creator is one and not two is impressed. The human body consists

Sapta Dhatu's and in this dwells, only paramatma.

6. The Slokas from Twenty to twenty four are Mantra Slokas extolling Sun God.

7. From twenty fifth to thirtieth the method of recital by Sri Rama and invoking

God to bless him with the requisite strength for the victory in the battle field

is stated.

Savita (Surya) is the God for Gayatri Mantra. The consciousness in the living

being is a part of the Cosmic consciousness i.e. solar body. Hence Savitri is

the bioenergy of human being.

The importance of Surya (Source of all energy):

The human body has several microholes equivalent to the rays of Sun. Through

these holes the Sun rays penetrate and all the impurities are removed and purify

them. The Lord Surya blesses the right type of discrete life with strength and

capacity.

The paramatma who in the form of Atma in us is as effulgent as in the Sky as

Surya Bhagavan.

One has to meditate as Surya who makes us to realise Atma.

Surya is Universe. He is Atma Swaroopa. Surya had originated long before

creation. He created the two worlds as self effulgent. He is the Lord of the

astral plane. He is supreme to all worlds. He is the repository of intelligence.

Every thing in this world is being created by Sun God. The entire Creation of

life is his. He has created food and water. He is a truthful ruler. He is the

leader of all worlds. He is self illuminating, Electricity, Vedas, truth, and

yajnas. The three worlds have originated by Bhagavan Surya. He is the cause of

water. He is Amruta Svarupa. He bestows excellent power of action. He is time

incarnate. He protects us from punnama Naraka (the hell of not being blessed

with sons). He is the supreme diety of Devas. He is Indra, Varuna and the inner

self as Antaratman.

At the time of the rise of sun the reflection of Surya appears as if it is

coming straight from the sea. Suryanarayana (i.e. Narayana himself) is the

presiding deity for Suryarasi. Lord Surya has three wives i.e. Sanjna, Vsa and

chaya. Among them Asvini Devas originated from the tongue of Sanjna. They are

very famous as the Vaidyas (Bhishaks) of Devas.

Surya having nine thousand yojanas in dimension reduces the sufferance and

effects from the other grahas (planets). He is shining as the right eye of Sri

Mahavishnu.

He is meditated at the lotus Sahasra in the head. There is nothing like Surya

rising or setting. When Sun is rising it is dawn and when Sun sets (invisible)

it is dust. He is a rasajna. He is responsible for the joy of padmini class of

ladies. He always entertains romantic feelings. He is well dressed and glitters.

Surya mandala is said to be gold in yajna i.e. The black part of the eye is the

Sun's light and the white of the eye is purusa which is being meditated. (Sata

patha Brahmana).

The black eye ball of the left eye and the right sde of the right eye represent

Lord Surya are duty merged in the mind to grant liberation.

He wears blood red clothes, holding golden lotuses in the hands creating day. He

blesses Indra with wealth. He is the Svadha rupa for parents. He is a mystical

figure for rakshasas. He is elixir (Amruta) to Devas. He is differently called

during the months of Caitra and Vaisakha. His chariot is run by the person by

name padma. The Sun God has represented to Maharsi Jamadagni with umbrella and

padukas (foot wear) for the welfare of the people.

Lord Surya has assumed the form of horse and initiated yajurveda to yajnavalkya

Maharsi. He taught (Vyakarana) grammer to Ramabhakta Sri Anjaneya.

He likes Kshiranna. Mahavisnu is born in his heirachy known as Sri Rama. He is

the lord of Kruttika, Uttara, Uttarasada stars. He awakens the intellect.

Salutations at the feet of Sri Bhaskara.
