Mahabharatha the great legend has so much attraction that it goes beyond linguistic and state barriers.Though the main events took place in Indraprastha,Hastinapura and Kurusketra those places are ,it is believed, located in Uttar Pradesh.Deep down the Kathakali dance form prtrays the Bharat wonderfully well in Kerala. There is thus a unification of North and South of India.

Kerala has a unique system of temple worship unlike other states and more importance is given to austerity and the protocol in worship. There are five temples of Vishnu(Krishna) which are connected to Bharatha. The Pandavas in their journey of pilgrimage covered several parts of India after anointing Parikshit to rule over their vast empire and entered Kerala and built five temples by each of the brothers. It is believed they are:

Chengannur (Yudhishtra)

Tirupuliyur ( Bhima)

Aranmula ( Arjuna)

Tiruvanvanchur( Nagula)

Tirukkodittaanam ( Sahadeva)

The above is the common belief and although the first three are familiar places the last two are not known where and in which district they are located.Similar stories are there in Tamilnadu also where the Pandavas hv temples in Mahabalipuram.I don't know whether they hv similar things in other states.Perhaps they may hv been coined just to claim that all the pandavas hv visited their places. It is something like Hanuman was given some secret msge to be coveyed to Sita by Sri Rama during his search for Sita and to reinforce this there is a temple dedicated to Hanuman near Tirur which became famous overnight by the visit of the present Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Jayalalithaa who visited the temple and gave a crown to the small idol of Hanuman as an offering after her victory in the polls in 2001.Of course she also donated an elephant and sandalwood etc to Lord Guruvayurappan. In that particular shrine of Hanuman there is no temple for Sita and a shrine for Lakshmana is there away

from the main shrine and Rama is in a posture to say something in the ears of Hanuman. There may be similar things in other parts also.May be all these hv been made to inculcate more faith or to attract devotees.

Hare Krishna.
